M/S/P: Kundolf/Chapin/Unanimous Funding Allocation Decisions for 2013 Events: Sutner reviewed a PowerPoint presentation highlighting the CSE’s revised objectives, alignment with the Vail Local Marketing District and the Vail Brand, and the optimization of the calendar. Following discussion, the following funding decisions were made: CSE/Meeting Minutes November 14, 2012 Page 2 of 5 Summer Mountain Games:  Motion to allocate $100,000.00 towards this event. M/S/P: Kundolf/Adkisson/ vote 6/1(Davis opposed) Snow DAZE:  Motion to allocate $50,000.00 towards this event. M/S/P: Kundolf/Bank/Unanimous Spring Back to Vail:  Motion to allocate $37,500.00 towards this event M/S/P: Kundolf/Bank/Unanimous Vail Lacrosse Shootout:  Motion to allocate $13,000.00 towards this event with the requirement the event producer creates a “festival theme” which will help to bring the event into the village, and provide a more visible integration with the community. M/S/P: Kundolf/Adkisson/ vote 6/1(Bank opposed) Winter Mountain Games:  Motion to allocate $50,000.00 towards this event M/S/P: Kundolf/Bank/ vote 6/1 (Davis opposed) Gourmet on the Gore:  Motion to allocate $50,000.00 towards this event M/S/P: Kundolf/Bank/Unanimous Kick-It 3v3 Soccer:  Motion to allocate $40,000.00 towards this event with the requirement the event producer creates a “festival feel” which will help to bring the event into the village, and provide a more visible integration with the community. M/S/P: Kundolf/Davis/Unanimous Keen Vail Kids Adventure Race:  Motion to allocate $25,000.00 towards this event. M/S/P: Kundolf/Bank/Unanimous Increased funding was allocated to facilitate a major expansion of this event, which has sold out, with a large waiting list, in both of its first 2 years. The producer was directed to look at ways to make the event more accessible to non-local participants. Vail Restaurant “Month”:  Motion to allocate $21,500.00 towards this event with the requirement the event producer change the name and reduce the duration of the event to 10 days from October 11 – October 20, 2013. M/S/P: Kundolf/Bank/Unanimous Vail Film Festival:  Motion to allocate $40,000.00 towards this event. M/S/P: Kundolf/Davis/Unanimous Vail Valley Cup Soccer Tournament:  Motion to allocate $5,000.00 towards this event. M/S/P: Kundolf/Davis/Unanimous Vail Rocks:  Motion to approve the date of June 15, 2013 and allocate $25,000.00 towards this event. M/S/P: Kundolf/Adkisson/ Unanimous HoliDAZE:  Motion to allocate $50,000.00 towards this event. M/S/P: Kundolf/Bank/ Unanimous Oktoberfest:  Motion to allocate $45,000.00 towards this event. M/S/P: Kundolf/Davis/Unanimous Vail Farmer’s Market and Art Festival:  Motion to allocate $35,000.00 towards this event. M/S/P: Kundolf/Bank/Unanimous America Cup  Motion to allocate $5,000.00 towards this event. M/S/P: Kundolf/Davis/Unanimous Vail America Days:  Motion to allocate $40,000.00 towards this event. M/S/P: Kundolf/Davis/Unanimous It was noted that there is a $29,500 credit towards fireworks in addition to this allocation, due to the cancellation of the fireworks display in 2012 on account of the significant drought conditions and associated fire danger. Vail New Year’s Eve 2014:  Motion to allocate $10,000.00 towards this event. M/S/P: Kundolf/Bank/Unanimous CSE/Meeting Minutes November 14, 2012 Page 4 of 5 King of the Mountain Volleyball Tournament:  Moti on to allocate $7,000.00 towards this event with the requirement the event producer activates an exhibition court in Solaris or Arrabelle. If the event producer is unable to provide activation in either of those locations, the allocation is then reduced to $4,000.00 M/S/P: Kundolf/Bank/Unanimous Soul Music Festival:  Motion to allocate $40,000.00 towards this event with the requirement the event producer work with a CSE approved local event producer and meet and work cooperatively with CSE and VLMDAC representatives for marketing assistance. M/S/P: Kundolf/Adkisson/ vote 5/2 (Bank and Kerstiens opposed) SSCV Noram Cup:  Motion to allocate $2,000.00 towards this event. M/S/P: Kundolf/Bank/Unanimous Colorado Grand Finish Line and Concours:  Motion to allocate $2,000.00 towards this event. M/S/P: Kundolf/Davis/Unanimous Vail Arts Festival:  Motion to allocate $10,000.00 towards this event. M/S/P: Kundolf/Bank/Unanimous Lionshead Family Saturday Afternoon Club:  Motion to allocate $20,000.00 towards this event. M/S/P: Kundolf/Adkisson/Unanimous US Youth Fly Fishing National Championships:  Motion to allocate $2,500.00 towards this event. M/S/P: Kundolf/ Kerstiens /Unanimous PINK Vail:  Motion to allocate $10,000.00 towards this event. M/S/P: Kundolf/Davi s/Unanimous Vail Automotive Classic:  Motion to allocate $1,000.00 towards this event. M/S/P: Kundolf/Adkisson/Unanimous Vail Whitewater Park Kayak Demos:  Motion to allocate $2,000.00 towards this event. M/S/P: Kundolf/Davis/Unanimous CSE/Meeting Minutes November 14, 2012 Page 5 of 5 The Vail “Living Well” Summit:  Motion to recommend that the Vail Town Council allocate $25,000.00 towards this event, based on CSE criteria. M/S/P: Kundolf/Adkisson/Unanimous Memorial Day Event:  Motion to recommend the Vail Town Council allocate $100,000.00 (not to exceed) towards an as yet to be determined event which meets the CSE’s criteria and will be developed in consideration of input received from marketing research efforts. M/S/P: Kundolf/Adkisson/Unanimous Intercept Attendance and Marketing Liaison:  Motion to recommend the Vail Town Council allocate $50,000.00 towards the development of a Intercept Survey and the development of a tool to accurately measure attendance at events, and $15,000.00 towards staffing for an Event/ Marketing Liaison. M/S/P: Kundolf/Adkisson/Unanimous Falling Leaf 50 Mountain Bike Race, Ultra Race of Champions (ROC), Vail Songwriters Festival, Vail Victory Races, Season of Song, Vail Global Energy Forum, Beyond Living and Losing, Skating Club of Vail: Invitational and Mountain Fun, Commando Bootcamp Games and Mutt’er Run and Carpenter’s Ball:  Motion to allocate $0.00 towards these events. M/S/P: Kundolf/Bank/Unanimous The CSE agreed that, should the USA Pro Cycling Challenge (USAPCC) not award a stage to Vail in 2013, they would forward a recommendation to the Vail Local Marketing District to fund the Tour of Vail with the funds that have been set-aside for the USAPCC. Matters from CSE Members, not listed on the agenda: McDonald reminded members of the VLMDAC marketing meeting on November 15, 2012 at 8:00 am at the Antlers Lodge.
