P Series of 1966 ORDINANCE N0. 1 t E AN ORDINANCE CREATING THE P05ITION OF TOWN RECORDER OF THE TOWN DF VAIL AND SETTING FORTH THE FUNCTIONS, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILI- TIES OF SAID TOWN RECORDER. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE TOWN DF VAIL: SECTxON 1, OFFXCE AND DUTIES The Board of Trustees of the Town of Vail hereby creates the office and .p ositian of Town Recorder. The functions, duties and responsibilities of the Town Recorder shall be: (a) To perform ail duties of town clerks and recorders as prescribed by ordinance or state law. (b) To serve as the clerk of the Board of Trustees, attend all. meetings of said board, and keep a permanent journal of its proceedings. (c) To be the custodian of the Town seal and affix it to all documents and instruments requiring the seal, and attest the same. (d) To be the custodian of all papers, documents and records pertaining to the Town. (e) To certify by his signature all ordinances, resolutions and other measures enacted or passed by the Board of Trustees. (f) To supply and maintain in his office forms fox all petitions required to be filed for any purpose as provided by ordinance or state law. I 4 Y ~ ~ ' ~ `~ 1 (g) To administer oaths of office for the Town. {h) To perform in municipal elections all functions required of town clerks by ordinance or stat® law. SECTION 2. APPOINTMENT The Town Recorder shall be appointed by, and serve at the pleasuxe of, the Board of Trustees, but in no event shall his appointment continue beyond one week after the qualification of the members of the Board of Trustees far office following their ele- ction as prescribed by state law. At such time he may be reappointed SECTION 3. COMPENSATION The compensation of the Tawn Recorder shall be determined by resolution ~of the Board of Trustees. SECTION 4. EFFECTIVE DATE This ordinance shall be in full force and effect within thirty days after its appxoval by the Board of Trustees and final publication as prescribed by law. SECTION S. SEVERABII.ITY "It is the intention of the Board of Trustees that this ordinance or any part or provision thereof, shall be considered severable and, if any provision of this ,ordinance or the applica- tion thereof to any person or circumstance is held invalid, such invalidity shall not affect other provisions or applications of the ordinance which can be given effect without the invalid provision or application, and to this end the provisions of this ordinance are declared to be severable." 1 ) Finally passed, adopted and approved on this ~~ day of /~~P/1~7,~~P-i , I96 ~ Approved: .,~ .~ , ~--~~,.~ Mayor Attest: ~`. ~ c :'~~..
