AN ORDINANCE AP~'IENDTNG TITLE 9 OF THE VAIL
MUNICIPAL CODE BY THE ADDITION OF A NEW
CHAPTER 9.54 "CAMPING -- PROHIBITED" WHICH
PROHIBITS THE RESIDING ON A TEMPORARY BASIS
UPON ANY PROPERTY WITHIN THE TOWN OF VAIL
NOT SPECIFICALLY DESIGNATED THEREFOR; AND
SETTING FORTH DETAILS RELATING THERETO
WHEREAS, there have been a number of instances where
people have taken up temporary residence on construction sites,
private property, and other areas within the Town of Vail in
campers, construction trailers, tents, and other temporary
shelters;
WHEREAS, temporary residence of this kind creates
health problems including trash accummulation and disposal,
potential sanitary problems, and general unsightliness; and
WHEREAS, the Town Council is of the opinion that it
would be in the best interest of the public health, safety and
welfare to prohibit temporary residences except in areas desig-

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE TOWN COUNCIL
OF TfiE TOWN OF VAIL, COLORADO, THAT:
Section 1. Title 9 "Public Peace, Morals and Welfare"
of the Vail Municipal Code is amended by the addition of a new
Chapter 9.54 to read as follows:
9.54 CAMPING - PROHIBITED
It shall be unlawful for any person to reside
temporarily on any parcel in the Town of Vail
not specifically designated therefor, for a
period longer than two nights in any tent,
shelter, mobile home, recreational vehicle,
trailer, or any other temporary or movable
shelter that has not been permanently attached
to the land and/or received appropriate appro-
vals £rom the Tawn of Vail.
Section 2. The Town Council finds that this ordinance
is necessary far the protection of the public health, safety and
welfare.
INTRODUCED, READ ON FIRST READING, APPROVED AND ORDERED
PUBLISHED ONCE IN FULL, this 6th day of June, 1978, and a public

hearing on this ordinance shall be held at the regular Fneeting
of the Town Council o~ the Town of Vail, Colorado, on the 20th
day of June, 1978, at 7:30 P.M. in the Municipal Building of the
Town .
