Series of 1979 AN ORDINANCE OF THE TOWN COUNCIL DESIGNATING CERTAIN AREAS WITHIN THE TOWN OF VAIL AS FIRE LANES; ADOPTING A FIRE LANE MAP AS THE OFFICIAL MAP OF THE TOWN OF VAIL; AND SETTING FORTH DETAILS RELATING THERETO WHEREAS, Chapter 8.08 of the Vail Municipal Code pro- vides for fire lanes and the designation thereof by the Town Council; WHEREAS, the Town Council is of the opinion that cer- tain areas within the Town on both public and private property are necessary for fire protection purposes and other emergency purposes; and WHEREAS, it is the opinion of the Town Council that this ordinance is necessary for the protection of the public health, safety and welfare; NOW, THEREFORE, EE IT ORDAINED EY THE TOWN COUNCIL OF THE TO[dN OF VAIL, COLORADO, THAT: Section 1. The following described areas within the Town of Vail are hereby designated as fire lanes in accordance with Chapter 8.08 of the Vail Municipal Code: A. Children's Fountain: The fire lane shall extend a length of 75 feet in a north/south direction, along the east end of the Schober Euilding at 201 Gore Creek Drive, from Gore Creek Drive, north to the stairway, and 50 feet in an east/west direction from the same stairway, east along the south side of the Creekside Euilding at 223 Gore Creek Drive, to the east side of • the Creekside Euilding. E. Christy Sports: The fire lane shall extend in a t north/south direction for a length of 90 feet, along the east side of the Plaza Euilding at 293 Fridge Street, south to the open area adjacent to the Gondola I Euilding. C. Hanson Ranch Road: The fire lane shall extend in a curve for a length of 200 feet, in a northern direction, on the east side of Hanson Ranch Road, from the southwest corner of the ~` Ord. Page 2 Ski Connection at 298 Iianson Ranch Road, to the northwest corner of the Christiana at 356 Hanson Ranch Road. D. Vail Athletic Club: The fire lane shall extend for a length of 110 feet along the west side of the Athletic Club, in a north/south direction from East Meadow Drive, south to the south side of the Athletic Club at 352 East Meadow Drive. E. Northwoods: The fire lane shall extend along the east side of the drive from Vail Valley Drive, to the garage door of Euilding "D", at 600 Vail Valley Drive, constituting a length of 550 feet. F. Crossroads: The fire lane shall extend along the north side of East Meadow Drive, from the fire hydrant at Cross- roads, west to the main driveway into the parking lot, constitu- ting a length of 300 feet, and from the corner of the old Cross- roads Euilding adjacent to the main driveway (at the Easkin-Rob- bins Store), north to and around the curve, along the south side of the Village Market to the southeast corner of the building, for a length of 310 feet. G. Sitzmark: The fire lane shall extend from the north side of the Sitzmark Lodge at 183 Gore Creek Drive, for a length of 40 feet along the east side of Willow Fridge Road, to the south side of the bridge across Gore Creek. H. The Crest: The fire lane shall extend from the South Frontage Road, west along the south side of the drive into The Crest parking lot, for a length of 200 feet, to the east end of the parking in front of the east wing of the building, and north from the front door of The Crest, along the east side of the build- • ing, for a length of 100 feet to the entrance of the loading area. I. East Lionshead Circle: The fire lane shall extend across the pedestrian walk into the Lionshead Mall for a length of 20 feet, between the Eus Shelter and the Vail 21 Euilding. J. East Lionshead Commercial Parking and Loading Area: The fire lane shall extend along the south side of the drive between the Vail 21 Euilding, the Lazier Commercial Euilding, and the elevated parking lot on the south side of the Vantage Point ~~ -~ ~ ~~ • ! Ord. Page 3 Complex for a length of 60 feet across the north side of the Vail 21 Euilding, and 75 feet across the north side of the Lazier Commercial Euilding. K. Landmark: The fire lane shall extend along the south side of the Landmark Euilding and the north side of the Studio in the Rockies Euilding, on the south side of the access to the Lionshead Mall, from Lionshead Circle, east for a length of 250 feet. L. Sunbird: The fire lane shall extend south from the Lionshead rZa11, along the west side of the Sunbird Euilding for a length of 200 feet, to the curb south of the Lionsquare North . Euilding. M. Slifer Euilding: The fire lane shall extend along the east side of the Slifer Euilding at 263 Fridge Street, from Gore Creek Drive, north to the parking lot behind Gorsuch, the Ore House, the City Limits, and other businesses in the adjacent buildings, for a length of 50 feet. 0. Alphorn: The fire lane shall extend along the west side of the Alphorn Euilding at 121 West Meadow Drive, from West Meadow Drive, north to the Scorpio/Nail National Eank parking lot, for a length of 80 feet. P. Aspen Tree: The fire lane shall extend along the south side of the Aspen Tree Condominium complex from Red Sandstone Road, west to the drive for the Cottonwood Condominium complex, for a length of 40 feet. Q. Red Sandstone School: The fire lane shall extend from the North Frontage Road West, at 551 North Frontage Road West, up and around the drive to the front doors of the Red Sandstone School, on the eastern side of the drive and on the south side of the school, for a total length of 800 feet. • Ord. Vail Trails East & West: The Fire Lane shall extend for a width of 20 feet, the entire length of Gore Creek Drive from 413 Gore Creek Dr., to 483 Gore Creek Drive, across the South side of the Vail Trails East and West complex, and the Texas Townhouses, constituting a length of 750 feet. Section 2. The Official Fire Lane Pap of the Town of Vail is hereby adopted and the above stated fire lanes immediately shown thereon. The Town Clerk shall maintain the Official Fire Lane Map in the Offices of the Town, and the Mayor is hereby authorized and directed to sign the same and the Official Seal of the Town affixed thereto. Section 3. All other provisions of Chapter 8.08 relating to fire lanes shall remain in full force and effect and enforced on the above specified fire lanes. Section 4. The Town Council finds that this ordinance is necessary for the protection of the public health, safety and welfare. Section 5. If any part, section, subsection, sentence, clause or phrase of this ordinance is for any reason held to be invalid, such decision shall not affect the validity of the remain- ing portions of this ordinance; and the Town Council hereby declares it would have passed this ordinance, and each part, section, sub- section, sentence, clause or phrase thereof, regardless of the fact that any one or more parts, sections, subsections, sentences, clauses or phrases be declared invalid. Section 6. The repeal or the repeal and reenactment of any provision of the Vail Municipal Code as provided in this ordi- nance shall not affect any right which has accrued, any duty imposed, any violation that occurred prior to the effective date hereof, any prosecution commenced, nor any other action or proceeding as com- menced under or by virtue of the provision repealed or repealed and reenacted. The repeal of any provision hereby shall not revive any provision or any ordinance previously repealed or superseded unless expressly stated herein. Ord.
