AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 21-5
OF THE MODEL TRAFFIC CODE, 1977 EDITION,
AS ADOPTED BY THE TOWN OF VAIL TO
PROVIDE FOR ROLLER SKATING ON CERTAIN
DESIGNATED STREETS, AUTHORIZING THE
TRAFFIC ENGINEER TO DESIGNATE STREETS
OR PORTIONS THEREOF FOR ROLLER SKATING;
AND SETTING FORTH DETAILS RELATING
THERETO.
WHEREAS, the Town Council has received certain
requests for areas and streets where people can roller skate;
WHEREAS, the Town Council believes that .it is proper to
authorize the Town Engineer to designate certain streets
or portions thereof for roller skating.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE TOWN COUNCIL OF
THE TOWN OF VAIL, COLORADO, THAT:
(1) Section 21-5 of the Model Traffic Code for Colorado
Municipalities, 1977 edition as adopted by the Town of Vail
is hereby amended by the addition of subsection (e) to
read as follows:
(e) This section shall not apply upon any
street or portion thereof designated
as a limited play street for use of
roller skates, skateboards or similar
devices. Nothing in this subsection
(e) shall be construed to allow the
use of skis, toboggans or coasting
sleds on said limited play street
and the same are prohibited; All
businesses which rent skates shall
post in a conspicuous place on the
business premises a map of the Town
of Vail with the limited play streets
for the use of roller skates marked
thereon.
(2) The Town Council finds that this ordinance is neces-
sary for the public health, safety and welfare.
INTRODUCED, READ ON FIRST READING, APPROVED AND ORDERED
PUBLISHED ONCE IN FULL, this 17th day of July, 1979, and a
public hearing on this ordinance shall be held at the regular
meeting of the Town Council of the Town of Vail, Colorado,
on the 7th day of August, 1979, at 7:30 P.M., in the Municipal
Building of the Town.
