HomeMy WebLinkAbout1981-36 Establishing and Providing for the Compensation for the Town Council for the Town of Vail and the Mayor, and Setting Forth Matters and Details in Relation Thereto1 i~ • ORDINANCE #36 {series of 1981) AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING AND PROVIDING FOR THE COMPENSATION FOR THE TOWN COUNCIL FOR THE TOWN OF VAIL AND THE MAYOR FOR THE TOWN OF VAIL, AND SETTING FORTH MATTERS AND DETAILS TN RELATION THERETO. WHEREAS, the compensation heretofore provided for the Town Council and the Mayor for the Town of Vail, has not been changed since 1973; and WHEREAS, to more adequately and fairly compensate the members of the Town Council and the Mayor for future and successive members of the governing body of the Town of Vail, the Town Council finds and determines that the compensation for each member of the Council should be increased to the sum of $~~~~ ~~ per month, effective January 1, 1982, and that the compensation of the Mayor, in accordance with the provisions of the Charter for the Town of Vail, upon selection and effective January 1, 1982, shall be $500..00 per month; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE TOtidN COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF VATL, COLORADO, THAT: Section 1. Compensation for Members of the Town Council. Each and every member of the Town Council for the Town of Vail elected in the election of Council members in November, 1981, and every succeeding election thereafter, shall receive, effective January 1, 1982, compensation in the amount of $ 2.®o•o~ per month for each and every month during his or her term of office. Section 2. Compensation for Mayor. The Mayor, as selected by the elected members of the Town Council, in accordance with the Town Charter for the Town of Vail, sha11 receive compensation, effective January 1, 1982, in the amount of $500.00 per month for each and every month throughout his term of office. Section 3. Council members not up for election. A71 members of Council who are not up for election in November, 1981, shall continue to receive the compensation at their current rate. Section 4. Severability. If any part, section, subsection, sentence, clause or phrase of this ordinance is for any reason held to be invalid, such decision shall not affect the validity of the remaining portions of this ordinance; and the Town Council for the Town of Vaii hereby declares it would have passed this ordinance and each part, section, subsection, sentence, clause or phrase thereof, irrespective of the fact that any one or mare parts, sections, subsections, sentences, clauses or phrases be declared invalid.
