AN ORDINANCE REGARDING COMPENSATION FOR
APPOINTED BOARDS OF THE TOWN OF VAIL;
PROVIDING THAT THE TOWN COUNCIL MAY SET
COMPENSATION FOR RPPOINTED BOARDS; AND
REPEALING CERTRIN PROVISIONS IN CONFLICT
THEREWITH.
WHEREAS, citizens who serve on the appointed Boards of the
Town give significant amounts of time to serve the public; and
WHEREAS, the Town Council is of the opinion that it may be
appropriate to compensate the members of appointed boards;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE TOWN COUNCIL OF THE
TOWN OF VAIL, COLORADO, THAT:
Section 1. That portions of Section 18.54.020 of the Vail
Municipal Code which reads "Ail members of the Board shall serve
without compensation" is hereby repealed. That portion of
Section 2.24.020 of the Vail Municipal Code which reads "All
members of the commission shall serve without compensation unless
otherwise provided by the Town Council" is hereby repealed.
Section 2. The Vail Municipal Code is hereby amended by the
addition of a new Section 2.48.030 to read as follows:
2.48.030 Appointed Boards - Compensation
The Town Council may provide for appropriate compensation for
the members of any or all of the boards or commissions of the
Tows of Vail which are established by the charter or ordinance
of the Town. Provided, however, that such compensation shall not
be in the Form of the payment of monies but in benefits or privi-
ledges in lieu thereof.
INTRODUCED, READ ON FIRST READING, APPROWED RND ORDERED PUBLISHED
ONCE IN FULL THIS 20TH DAY OF OCTOBER, 1981, AND A PUBLIC HEARING ON
THIS ORDINANCE SHALL BE HELD AT THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE TOWN
COUNCIL ON NOVEMBER 3RD, 1981.
