F'.P.A. 72-A, 72--E, and 72B',-C.or D. Required fire alarm systems sha11 have the following features 1. Double action manual fire alarm pull stations shall be installed at each ]evel of each egress, behind the bar in drin!<ing establish- ments, at the front desk of a hotel and at locations required by the Chief and N.F.P.A. 72-A. 2. Interior common corridors sha11 be equipped with system smoke detectors complying with U.L. 268, installed as per the listed spacing requirements. 3. All common public areas shall be equipped with system smoke detectors complying wiCh U.L. 25II, installed as per the listed spacing ., requirements. EXCEPTION AREAS NOT SUITABLE F'OR SMOKE DETECTORS SHALL SE PROTECTED BY HEAT ACTUATED DEVICES OR EQUIVALEIIT DEVICES. 4. Each sleeping room sha11 have a smoke detector complying with either U.L. 2b8 or U.L. 217 installed as per N.F.P.A. 72-E. 5. Audible alarm signals shall be annunciated to all portions of the building upon activation of any manual or automatic fire detector. EXCEPTION ~dITI~ PERMISSION OF THE CHIEE', ALARP•1 SIGNALS MAY BE INITIALLY ANNUNCIATED TO PORTIONS OF A BUILDING, PROVIDED THAT THE FIRE ALARM CONTROL PANEL IS EQUIPPED SO AS TO ALLOLJ THE ANNUNCIATION OF A FIRE ALARM SIGNAL TO THE ENTIRE BUILDING BY P9ANUAL ACTIVATION. b. An approved voice communication systern or equivalent telephone communication system shall be installed so as to enable the fire department to automatically ar manually give verbal instructions to occupants of the building by selected zones and by general alert. Occuparlcies such as nightclubs, discos, dining and drir7king establishments with live music, recorded music or other similar sound producing equipment shall have an alarm actuated shunt-trip to disconnect the source of music amp]ification, when the building is equipped with a fire alartTr system. (d}. Buildings classified as P-1 or with residenta1 occupancies in Group A-1, A-2, A-2.1, A-3, A-4 ar ~-2, 4 stories or more, shall be equipped with a fire alarm system in accordance with Uniform Fire Code Standard 10-2. {e). Buildings under remodle where the"fire or occupant load is increased, located in Commercial Core 1, 2 or 3 shall have a fire alarm system installed in accordance with Uniform Fire Code Standard 10-2. {f). Structures six stores or more, but below 75 feet in heigth, that do not provide fire department vehicular access within 2Q feet of 50% of the exterior perimeter including access to at least one side of the highest portion of the building, shall have a fire alarm system instal-ed in accordance with Uniform Building Code, 1982 edition, Section 1Sv7, Uniform Sui1ding Code Standard 18--1, Uniform Fire Code Standard ~~-2 I;. APPF.AI.S Appeals from Appendix '=:-C relating to the suitability and numbers of devices required pursue-- thereto and interpretations of the provisions thereof shall be made -: she Board of Appeals established by Section 2.3Q2 of the Uniform F-•-a Code, 1982 edition. 1{. The repeal or the repeal and reenactment of any ~~rovision of the Vail i~9unicipal Code as provided in this ordinance shall not affect any right which has accured, any duty irt~posed, any violation that occ~red prior to the effective date thereW of any prosecution commenced, nor any other action or proceeding as commenced under or Icy virtue of the provision repealed or repealed and reenacted. The repeal of any provision hereby shall not revive any provision or any ordinance previously repealed ar superseded unless expressly stated herein. Section 4. The Council hereby finds, determines and declares that this ordinance is necessary and proper for the health, safety and welfare of the Town of Vail and the inhabitants thereof.
