' AN ORDINANCE AMENDING UNIFORM BUILDING
CODE SECTION 33Q2, ADDING A NEW SECTION
WHICH PROVrDES FOR THE INCREASE OF
OCCUPANT LOADS UNDER CERTAIN CIRCUMSTANCES,
AND PROVIDING DETAILS IN RELATION THERETO.

WHEREAS, the Building Department and the Fire Department

of the Town of Vail have studied the occupant loads set forth
by the Uniform Building Code; and have recommended to the Town ,.
Council that an increase in the occupancy loads be granted if
certaa_n standards and conditions are met; and
WHEREAS, the Town Council believes it would benefit the
health, safety and welfare of the inhabitants of the Town of
Vail i:~ such an amendment to the Uniform Building Code were

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE TOWN COUNCIL OF THE
TOWN OF VAIL, COLORADO, THAT:
Section l.. Section 3302 of the Occupant Load of the Uniform
Building Ccyde 1982 Edition is hereby amended by the addition of
Section (e) Increased Occupant Load, to read as follows:
(e} Increased Occupant Load
An increase in the occupant load may be granted by
the Fire Chief or the Building Official if the building
or the area has one or more of the following features
and if said feature is not otherwise required by either
the Uniform Building Code 1982 Edition or the Uniform Fire
Code 1982 Edition:
a. One additional exit which complies with the Uniform
Building Code, 1982 edition, - 1Q%
b. Two additional exits which comply with the Uniform
Building Code, 1982 edition, 15%.
c. Code approved sprinklers which comply with the Uniform
Building Cody, 1982, edition, 20%.
d. Code approved fire alarm system which complies with the
Uniform Building Gode, 1982 edition., 1Q%.
e. Class A flames spread interior (C Req.) which complies
with the Uniform Bldg. Code, 1982 edition, la%.
f. Class B flames spread interior (C req.) which complies
with the Uniform Building Code, J.982 edition, 5%.
The maximum increase allowable over the Uniform Building
Code 1982 limit shall be a total of 30%.
1. All calculations for the determination of occupant loads shall be
