Joe's Deli PRESENT AT SITE: Joe Joyce, Kim McGhee STATUS OF COMPLETION: interior demolotion DATE: 5/2/2001 ARRIVE: 11:40 a.m. DEPART: 12:10 p.m. WEATHER: raining JOB NUMBER: 0105-08 The purpose of this site visit was to observe the existing conditions and make recommendations regarding the cutting of new openings in the west wall for the new entry door and in the north wall for a mechanical vent. The proposed space for the new deli is a below-grade area below an existing retail building on Bridge Street in Vail. The existing construction consists of concrete wall, floor, and ceiling framing. The ceiling, which is the floor of the retail space above, is a cast-in-place slab, supported on a dropped concrete beam spanning east-west across the space. The beam bears on steel columns in the interior of the space, and on the front concrete wall by the entry door. The existing opening for the door and adjacent window appear to have been jack-hammered out of the wall, with very rough edges that have been poorly patched with grout. Based on my observations of the existing construction, new openings may be cut into the west wall according to the attached sketch S1, leaving a minimum of 2'-6" of the wall intact for the concrete beam bearing. It is also desired to cut some holes near the top of the concrete wall on the north side and possibly on the west side for mechanical vents. The exact sizes and locations of the holes have not yet been determined by the mechanical contractors. We will review and approve the openings as soon as information is available. SIGNED: "?
