BUILDINGS B AND C ROOF FRAMING
The roof beams for Buildings B and C were designed manually, with the aid of Risa 2d
and Excel as needed. The beam number for each section can be found on the reduced
plan at the beginning of each section. The beam sizes shown on the reduced plans were
preliminary, and the final beam sizes are found on the full -size drawings.
In the individual beam calculations, where there is not a loading diagram shown, the
beam was a simple span with either a uniformly distributed load, or a point load at the
center of the beam. For more complex loading, a diagram was sketched, Risa 2d was
used to analyze the beam, and the required section modulus and moment of inertia were
found. The provided section modulus and moment of inertia were written in parentheses
adjacent to those required, with the final beam selection shown boxed.
