Scope of Work
Per your request, and under the guidelines defined, HERRON* Enterprises USA, Inc. (HERRON*) hay co ii,b ided the
Environmental Consultation/Limited Asbestos Building Inspection at the aforementioned property.
Local, state and/or federal regulations, including but not limited to the Air Quality Control Division (AQCC) 1. ,-;ulation 8,
OSHA 1926.1101, and EPA (NESHAP) 40 CFR Part 61 may require a comprehensive asbestos inspeGtiol prior to a
renovation or demolition. This inspection requires an AHERA and State certified asbestos building inspector id tfifying and
sampling any friable and non-friable asbestos containing materials which could be affected by the activity.
HERRON* was contracted by the Client, to perform:
a Environmental Consultation/Asbestos Services, Limited Asbestos Building Inspection, specifically tailorc d to Friable
and Non-Friable Suspect Asbestos Containing Materials (ACM), associated with the aforement one 3 property,
specifically;
Client directed Limited Asbestos Building Inspection prior to a renovation of `Single Family Dwelling', 4 [3 1 or a Creek,
Vail, CO as follows:

Non-Destructive bulk sampling;

It was expressly advised that although this is a Limited Asbestos Building Inspection, it is comer-,hen s vz to the
aforementioned materials. Only materials impacted requiring response actions have been instructed and it therized by
the Client. Under the protocol of limited sampling whereas not `all' suspect materials outside of the response a;,ion areas
were sampled, under local, state and/or federal regulations, including but not limited to WAQS&k2 R.elu -ation and

As the Drywall/Joint Compound Material is classified as a Category II non-friable ACM, then the ma te17 ,: l would be
exempted from AQCC Regulation 8, if the material is not made friable during the renovation or demolitions.
At a minimum, this material should be removed by trained personnel in accordance with 29 CFR 1926.1101 (CSS] L 1 i Class II
Activities. The OSHA trained personnel should perform, at a minimum, an initial exposure assessment.
HERRON* would recommend as a minimum Plan of Action:
1. Asbestos Abatement Summary of Work: coordinated with Owner should be developed in order to d rcct proper
removal and disposal of Drywall/Joint Compound Materials would include 29 CFR 1926.1101 (OSFI.A ). If the
Drywall/Joint Compound Material, which is Non-Friable, is in Good Condition (at time of the inspection) is removed in
a wet, non-friable manner as a Class II Activity, then it is recommended that the material may be rcmovi, t by OSHA
trained personnel and disposed of as `clean demolition'.
2. Asbestos Abatement (to facilitate renovation or demolition): coordinated with Client, should the matcria.l be required
to be removed prior to a renovation or demolition activity.
and/or
3. Asbestos Air Monitoring: Asbestos Air Monitoring of project on behalf of Client, i.e., compliance to local, state,
and/or federal regulations, including but not limited to OSHA 1926.110 1, i.e., baseline air monitoring, pri -abatement
visual containment inspection(s), removal air monitoring, OSHA. Compliance air monitoring, final visual ? entainment
inspection(s), final clearance air monitoring, etc.

drywall/joint compound (when the joint compound does not cover the entire surface) has been determined to ,oul ain 1.0%
Asbestos, this document serves as a Hazard Communication and should be followed during an activity such as, renovation
or demolition, to ensure that an exposure does not occur. The Maximum Allowable Asbestos Level (MARL) ntay not be
exceeded at `any' time in accordance with local, state, and/or federal regulations, including but not limite- l tc AQCC
Regulation 8 (State), 29 CFR 1926.1101 (OSHA), 40 CFR Part 61 EPA (N-E, SIIAP), and 40 CPR 763 EPA (<' I1T, 'A).

Suspect materials which were not within the Scope of Work at the time. of the inspection were:

2. `Any' confirmed or suspect ACM which may have been concealed at the time of the inspection
3. During a normal inspection, and more specifically when non-destructive sampling techniques are cmpflcn a d. it is not
within the scope of the inspection to remove surface materials to inspect the structures and/or materi.al?; w.l ii;h. may be
under the surface, i.e., within or under concealed areas such as under carpet, under sub-floors, within cl ases, walls,
crawlspaces, tunnels, etc., to remove suspect Asbestos Containing Material(s), to move and/or sample rlec ri:,al wiring
which has not been 'locked out', etc. All said areas are to be assumed as containing >1.0% Asbestos, until such a time
that these areas are made accessible, and/or rendered safe so that sampling can be performed.

This letter is to confirm that the wall sections that Mr.
Brown is planning to replace with a railing are non-load
bearing walls.
The wall sections involved are located at right angles to
each other. They are located on the "creek" side of the
unit between the kitchen and a loft closet/storage area.
A four foot section of one wall and a six to eight foot
section of the adjoining wall are to be removed and replaced
with a metal railing. The wall sections that are to be
removed are approximately five and one-half feet tall.
The railing is to be thirty-six inches tall leaving
approximately two and one-half feet of open space above the
top of the new rail system and the existing sloped ceiling
of the building.
