Michael,
This e-mail is to recap our field meeting yesterday. The mechanical permit is not approved at this time. The boiler
installation does not meet minimum code requirements, or the boiler installation instructions for clearances to combustible
construction or maintenance requirements. Also the combustion air is inadequate for the size of the boiler. I order for the
permit to be approved and issued compliance with all applicable code and installation requirements is required. The floor
finish is of a non-combustible material, it is concrete. The stated clearances in the installation instructions are minimum
clearances from combustible construction and also for inspection and maintenance. Only the manufacturer can approve
reduced clearances. The vent connector requires a minimum 6 inch clearance to combustibles see International Fuel Gas
Code sections 503.10.5, 503.7.7, and Table 503.7.7. The combustion air opening has to be verified that it is to the exterior
of the building and that there is enough area for 125,000 btu's. In this instance we would allow an combination of air by
infiltration and outside combustion air. As I calculated air by infiltration alone would require 6,250 cubic feet. Combustion
air from one opening at one square inch per 3000 btu located high would be 41 square inches. What we need from PDH
LLP Plumbing and Heating is a detailed mechanical plan showing compliance with all code and installation requirements.
Our meeting is not an approval of any installed non-complying conditions.

Michael,
We received a mechanical permit application for a new boiler and water heater storage tank at the Vail Racquet Club
building 10, unit 19. In order to process the application there are a couple of items still needed.
(2) copies of plans and specifications are required.
1. Please include a floor plan view of the mechanical room draw to scale. Show clearances from walls to the boiler, and
working clearances in front for boiler. Include entry door location and size.
2. Include equipment sheet on the water storage tank proposed
3. Include combustion air duct sizes and location
4. Include b-vent size and gas line sizes
5. Show location of floor drain and indicate in mechanical room floor is combustible, or non-combustible.
