West Wing Core and Shell Package
Construction Documents
Scope of Work
The scope of work described in this set of construction
drawings and specifications is for the construction of the
Exterior Envelope addition to the existing Vail Valley Medical
Center West Wing. This addition consists of a new 4th floor
and expansions on the south and west sides of the existing
west wing. This package is being issued to initiate the plan
review and permitting required to facilitate the bidding and
ordering of materials required to begin this initial construction
effort. It will be closely followed by an interior up-fit and
renovation package that is currently scheduled for plan review
and permit in late July. Together, these two packages will
describe a complete project scope which will be constructed
in one seamless construction sequence.
Generally, the scope of work intended to be considered in this
first plan review and permit process includes; foundations,
primary structural steel, floor and roof decks, significant shafts,
significant rooftop equipment, roof drainage systems, roof
construction, exterior wall construction including all cladding
systems, exterior windows, exterior storefront systems, exterior
curtain-wall systems, site civil engineering components, and
landscape design.
Other information has been included in this package for
information only, and will be re-submitted in final form in the
up-coming up-fit package. That information includes floor
plans, life safety plans, and other related information.
SPECIAL INSPECTIONS:
Special inspections shall be performed by the owner agent in
accordance with Chapter 17 of the Building Code for the
following:
Penetrations Firestops Sections 1705.17.2 and ASTM E2174
Fire Resistive Joint Systems, Section 1705.17.2 and ASTM
E2393
Reference drawing S000 for 1705.2 Steel, 1705.3 Concrete,
1705.4 Masonry, 1705.6 Soils, 1705.14 Sprayed fire resistant
materials.
