Letter of Interest
On behalf of Blue Creek Productions Inc. and our team, I would like to express our interest in working
with the Town of Vail to create a new holiday tradition surrounding Thanksgiving holiday in Vail. We
believe we have the creative and operational team to create the valuable events and programs needed
for this project. We also feel we have a successful history of working with Vail to create many exciting
experiences for your guests in the past.
In this response to your RFQ, we have presented many ideas and concepts that we feel would help work
towards accomplishing your goals of…
• Creating a new tradition to engender loyalty to Vail
• Extend length of stay in this early part of season
• Help secure Vail as the best early season mountain and town experience, regardless of
mountain snow conditions
• Work towards driving demand for Vail visits over Thanksgiving holiday regardless of snow
conditions
There are many great ideas that can be created to accomplish the goals you have set forth for this
project. The challenge will be to spread this budget effectively over the 9 days of the project and the
areas of Vail and Lionshead to create a measurable impact. The costs of the events we discuss in this
presentation are initial estimates. The costs will have to be identified. Final choices for the events,
activations and overall scheduling can be made through discussion with you and an evaluation of the
available budget, your priorities and which activations you feel will help you attain your goals.
Blue Creek will charge a fee proposal of 20% for this project based a budget of $100,00.00. Additional
production costs will be included in the productions costs of specific events and activations.
Thank you for your consideration of our concepts for your RFQ.
Sincerely,
Brian Hall
President,

Possible Activations
1) Daily Parade and Entertainment
a) Macy’s Style Parade (single event)
*This is a large and expensive project. I believe the July 4th Vail parade costs
approximately $120,000.00 to produce. To produce a similarly impactful parade
could be as much as that.
- 4 Inflatable balloons (helium filled) smaller ones can be $5,000 to $7,000 for
each balloon plus artwork, helium to fill it each time can be $1500 to $2000/per
balloon, per parade event. Helium shortage so expensive, Helium does not
work well in cold. So we would suggest looking at using smaller cold air
Balloons- Less expensive.
-Additional costs could include vehicles, floats, marching band, entertainers,
banners, volunteer management, insurance and more.
- Approximate costs: $60,000.00 to $75,000.00
b) Parade Option 2 (2 parades events – 1 in Vail & 1 in Lionshead)
-4 smaller cold air spheres with holiday motif
- Kids & parents participate, float(s), entertainers/characters/mascots,
Instruments, banners/signage, props, characters, insurance
- Cost estimate $36,500 to $40,000.
2) Daily entertainment on the street
- 2 locations, Vail and LH
- Après ski time
- Cirque Type entertainment, buskers, carolers, nature exhibits/Birds of Prey,
musicians
- Estimated Budget: $2,500/day X 2 locations x 9 days = $36,000.00
-plus signage, stage management, production help.
2) Ice Sculpture Competition or Gallery
a) Ice Sculpting Competition
- Invite Ice sculptures to come, create their work and compete. Their “live” sculpting
becomes an entertainment Activation.
- Costs could include supply stipend, lighting, Signage, Area prep, housing, prize
purse, marketing.
b) Commissioned Sculpture Gallery
- Commissioned ice sculptures with a theme to create a viewing gallery.
- Could be done both in multiple Vail Village locations and Lionshead.
- Less expensive way to create Ice décor and viewing activation

Blue Creek Productions, Inc. P.O. Box 4510 • Eagle, CO 81631 T 970-328-5855 Email brianhall@bluecreek.com
- Costs to include commissioned ice work, lighting signage,
- Estimated costs: $ 25,000.00 to $30,000.00
3) Gingerbread House Competition
- Placement of GB Houses at different hotels may make it hard for guests to see
them all.
-Need to announce it right away
- 3 categories – Professional, Amateur-Adults, Amateur- Kids
- 1st, 2nd and 3rd place in each category
-Prize purse for Professionals
-Final Professional GB houses could be auctioned off for a non-profit
-Costs could include – marketing, trophies, Gb House support tables, signage,
Transportation, Prize Purse for pros
- Estimated costs: $7,500.00
4) Figure Skating Performance
a) Professional Skaters, Dobson Ice Arena
-2 to 3 pro or High level amateurs (Silver or pre-Olympic level
- Possible costs - lights & sound, housing, hospitality, transportation (air and
ground), rink rental, Production staff.
- Approximately $35,000.00 to $50,000.00
* With bigger names, you get a better draw. but they can be costly and travel
with an entourage. If you have the budget, this can be great. I have done
professional shows with Karen Kadavy and Brian Orser shows and with a Disney
On Ice Cast.
b) Amateur/Semi Pro Performance
- 1/2hour show
- 25% high level skaters, 50% medium level skaters, 25% cute beginner level
skaters
- 2 shows, outside rink.
- 1 show Solaris Rink & 1 show Arrabelle Rink
- Approximately $8,000.00 to $12, 000.00 for 2 shows
*I have done these type of shows in the past and they were very successful and
liked by guests. While they are well liked, they don’t have the big name draw.
But are far less expensive – great bang for your dollar in my opinion.
5) Ski Down and Fireworks
* Existing budget outside of this project?

6) Christmas Tree Lighting
* Existing budget outside of this project?
*It is our assumption that marketing and advertising costs are in a different budget.
