EVENT HIGHLIGHTS
• A spectacular firework display closed out the day and was a highlight for 2019 after last year’s cancelation
due to weather conditions. The combination of the thoughtfully curated flow, hand chosen fireworks and
effects and powerful patriotic soundtrack provided a fantastic show that was visible throughout Vail.
• Back for their third year, High Five Media streamed the Vail America Days parade live to Channel 5 from
the entrance to the Lionshead Pedestrian Mall. Working in collaboration with event organizers, the
broadcast was enhanced this year with additional elements like:
• Pre-parade performance by entertainers Fabulous Femmes
• Detailed announcements integrating this year’s theme with highlights on the Vail Valley and the 10th
Mountain Division, Camp Hale and history and relevance of the chosen theme
• For the 27th year, the Veterans opened the parade and was honored to have the American Flag carried by
Sergeant Matt Spang who lost both legs in Iraq in 2011. This Vail Veterans Program alum provided a
powerful moment in the parade.
