The speakers and level of discourse was amazing -- so relevant, important, and inspiring!None 5 It is gorgeous! Such a picturesque setting!3rd week of October (October 21-23, 2020)Education No.No, but I would definitely like to strengthen our school's (The Roeper School) relationship/involvement with SStS. I'd love for more students and teachers to take part!kelly.mcdowell@roeper.org2019-11-14 3:00:342019-11-14 3:04:45a453a2bfee 11fnx0y3bt9cymtfbo511fnxfuawbkz85Great speakers!None 5 Beautiful location with great spaces for the variety of conference sessions (whole group sessions and breakouts)2nd week of October (October 14-16, 2020)Education Loved it! Perhaps have it earlier in the year due to October open houses/student conferences (this would primarily effect educators)Le Jardin Academy (in Hawaii)-from what I have seen on Twitter they are extremely globally minded and a program like SStS is in line with their school's vision/missionstitus@westlakeacademy.org2019-11-10 21:09:152019-11-10 21:12:058e32b74598 ykvuueb6zcdfopeo4qykvuu4qqqpcf535It was a great group of thinkers and doers that were all coming together to try to identify new ways of solving global and local problems.None 3 Great spot but a little difficult to get to for people outside of Denver and a lot of the town was closed due to the offseason.3rd week of October (October 21-23, 2020)Business Have students attend both days. It felt like some of the talks going on Friday could have been very beneficial for the up and coming minds of students who are still looking to identify how to make their impact on the world.LifeStraw could be an interesting opportunity for some of your development trips.matt@argotagency.com2019-11-10 18:19:312019-11-10 18:24:14f375857ba6 x6uh92llsiiax6u0dob4e4awu2lxz0do5Interesting, thought-provoking contentNone 5 Good facility, good location3rd week of October (October 21-23, 2020)Nonprofit Negotiating a better parking rate with venueclaire@clairenoble.com2019-11-09 21:32:592019-11-09 21:38:080024e4af0c 7v56yxil1yttj0qikagm7v561qm3daff5I really enjoyed the sessions and the networking opportunity.None 5 I love the place and the facilities were very comfortable, places to walk and have dinner.3rd week of October (October 21-23, 2020)Education none garcinim@esdallas.org2019-11-07 14:58:532019-11-07 15:00:388918a94889 jdj31lw4oqdp83gbtjdjm2vf1mnpyvc54I really enjoyed all the talks and the location of the conference. As an educator I'm often looking for specific things to bring back to my students and my classroom and while the conference was really interesting I would've liked to see more specific ideas to bring back to the classroom.None 5 It was beautiful!!3rd week of October (October 21-23, 2020)Education I really enjoyed the forum but I would cut back on a few talks (like the ones during lunch) so we can have more time to network and process the previous talks.TECHO! It's an amazing organization based mostly in Latin America and could really give students an opportunity to learn about the reality of many people living in marginalized communities.alicja.surzyn@asfg.edu.mx2019-11-06 15:32:572019-11-06 15:40:16786f5ec541 bz9v7aq7ei0ll3wbz9vqy8nddjfm0b8n4Always room for improvement on number of attendees, quality of presentations.None 4 Beautiful place, but hard to get to.3rd week of October (October 21-23, 2020)Education Not sure B Labs Colordo, Alliance for Sustainable Colorado2019-11-06 14:46:252019-11-06 15:10:1759718b11d9 dsu2hj06zbq44i1fyz5ldsu2hj0m8iuu5The quality of the speakers and the passion shown by the organizers!None 5 Quaint village; off-season; unique to most attendees; simply beautiful.2nd week of October (October 14-16, 2020)Education bill.arnold@fwcd.com2019-11-06 13:46:002019-11-06 13:47:37b7a95bc892 6ya1sbd3kr7z3oc6ya1sbdc5ukrnujzq5I found the theme compelling and the presenters advanced the organizations goal of building ethical leaders for tomorrow.None 4 Coming from the East Coast, it can be a bit of a slog for a two day event. However, the location is fantastic and I wouldn't change it unless there is a compelling reason.2nd week of October (October 14-16, 2020)Education Changing the timing would be GREAT! Getting more alums who are still in high school involved would also be terrific. When it was conceived the Forum was a celebration of the students work and learning, and it was an opportunity for them to make it real by presenting it to legitimate audience.None that come to mind, but if I think of any, I will reach out.jmillard@waynflete.org2019-11-06 13:32:572019-11-06 13:39:357085e28f7e gaho07o1rh7wspkkpgahol588frb7jgz5I like the size of the forum. It really allows for meaningful conversations with people. I always leave with lots to think about, and ideas for what I want to do at my schoolPanel discussions 3 It's a beautiful location, but it would be nice to connect with a new community/location2nd week of October (October 14-16, 2020)Education The gender balance of the speakers was much better this year, but there is still work to be done in terms of racial diversity for forum speakers. No skelleymudie@thayer.org2019-11-06 13:00:182019-11-06 13:12:148337101ff0 4ehncf6gjsqnj4m69sb904ehncftd2sb5The event had an impressive array of speakers. It was well-organized, the venue was first-rate and everyone seemed energized and enthusiastic.None 5 Vail is, of course, a beautiful spot. It has easy access via I-70, and the Marriott offered a nice space.2nd week of October (October 14-16, 2020)Other No. I was impressed with the Forum. The Colorado Media Project might be a good partner.larry@coloradosun.com2019-11-05 23:53:372019-11-05 23:58:56a3a03a6a91 mi2d72enge9v4w6ymi2d8dkuuwbgfuuc5For educators leading social responsibility and leadership development work, I feel the conference was deeply reflective and provocative of the mindset shifts we need to make as individuals and societally as a whole. This is unique in the space of education conferences, so I would suggest to educators that they should take advantage of the opportunity to join such an amazing group of humble and inspiring people!Panel discussions 4 The drive over there was a pain in the snow, but also a unique opportunity to test my winter weather driving skills! It's a risk that would be faced if we do this in Vail at this time of the year every year.3rd week of October (October 21-23, 2020)Education I would include more community building activities and interactive facilitation experiences, where people break out of their comfort zones to get to know one another (especially amongst the coalition where there is lots of room for collaboration), process the new information they are absorbing, and translate ideas into practice. I would also add more discussion and introspection on the role of equity and diversity, and make space for challenging some of our own assumptions as it is an essential part of SStS theme of ethical leadership.Yes, the Ashoka Changemaker Schools network is a group of like-minded institutions that would be great to partner with.vraman@sssas.org2019-11-05 19:39:522019-11-05 19:56:46325cd89910 x9yyp0efppijs9ho6bjdx9yyp0effk4i4 (+): Good lively energy among those in attendance. (-): More experimentation here and there with formats, etc. would be welcome.12 minute talks 4 I know that Bob is from Vail, and it's certainly a beautiful place. Yet (a) the hotel isn't really in the heart of Vail, so being able to see Vail wasn't easy, especially given the tight schedule. And (b) getting to Vail isn't the easiest thing in the world. Ergo, a 4 rather than a 5.Other It could be helpful to more intentionally connect the Forum itself to the overall mission of Shoulder to Shoulder. Since this was my first time there, I was trying to figure out how this event differed from other 'creative class' forums like C2 in Montreal, Wisdom 2.0 in SF, weeklong retreats at the Banff Centre, and so on.totalwork.us@gmail.com2019-11-05 19:47:212019-11-05 19:54:03 uj55dqiv15ov5aqrhiiuj55d4odpp5ii5 Great speakers.None 3 Too hard to get to.2nd week of October (October 14-16, 2020)Education 2019-11-05 19:09:502019-11-05 19:11:1202c6ad43f8 gncxr484gxskr8zzgr8gncxj1utm5d3w5Good and engaged group of peopleNone 5 Because Vail was awesome!3rd week of October (October 21-23, 2020)Education Longer penal discussionsConvercent lorenzo.patelli@du.edu2019-11-05 19:00:572019-11-05 19:02:518a1b3b0a83 829mv5fgfb6u6rln829md0jgodlfmwla5Inspiring Panel discussions 5 Since SStS had its beginnings in Vail, it feels right to gather there. It is also a beautiful spot that feels separate from school hum drum, so it encourages free thinking and an open mind.3rd week of October (October 21-23, 2020)Education 2019-11-05 18:44:412019-11-05 18:47:206f1d1e44cf y17q05a8qxklqepr8zeydy17q05a8q004It was a very informative, thought-stimulating experience.None 5 It's a beautiful setting. I walked away inspired to not only be a better educator, but also a better father, husband, and person.12 minute talks 5 Beautiful 3rd week of October (October 21-23, 2020)Education Keep putting a premium on your speaker lineup. Really good this year. As the school coalition grows, facilitating conversations at the forum must be more intentional. There were several schools that I did not even talk with this time. Not at this time.stephen.blan@fwcd.com2019-11-05 17:00:012019-11-05 17:09:58b7a95bc892 8tti1qcpgt7qqod223eubq8tti1q5tre4 I think it is a great community and I appreciate the diversity of occupational perspectives represented (education, non-profit, university, business, etc). That is a strength.Panel discussions 4 It is a pretty place and the accommodations were nice. It would be nice to have a place that was not so closed down due to the season. But, again, plenty to do with walking and seeing the sights.3rd week of October (October 21-23, 2020)Education Nonprofit Yes, three items: (1) I think that the panel discussions could be shortened and tightened in terms of their format and perhaps just do one of these (not both days). Second, the TED talks are a good idea but they actually have to be TED talks in practice if there are going to be several. I suggest putting up a timer in the back of the room so speakers actually stick to 12 minutes or close to it (this is what is done at TED venues - a timer is provided). Cumulatively, on day 1, the longer TED talks made the later ones less effective due to audience fatigue. (3) At some point, harness all of the energy and people in the room - make a call to action. There was good discussion of issues to drive STSS forward but I think more direct action items could come from that discussion given all the potential actors in the room.Mary Gentile, UVA Business School could be a good future speaker on values and ethics in business2019-11-05 16:51:332019-11-05 16:57:59649aaa0531 5e9ppctyy9und0cu5e9ppnsjo5vgwg1c5 None 5 2nd week of October (October 14-16, 2020)Business Nonprofit Philanthropy meredith@cfcvail.com2019-11-05 16:43:472019-11-05 16:44:490ac1a2a71f stc5guc8hokrz4mljstc5g9fak2kxg5b5Diverse collection of leaders, lovely venue, excellent speakers and agenda.None 5 Hard to match for beauty and facilities.2nd week of October (October 14-16, 2020)Business Some speakers were less good than others - more vetting perhaps.
