A RESOLUTION OF THE TOWN COUNCIL EXPRE5SING
ITS OPPOSITION TO H.B. 1662 RELATING TO THE
STATE COLLECTED, LOCALLY SHARED SALES TAX
AND URGING ITS DEFEAT
WHEREAS, the Town Council of the Town of Vail has
adopted a local sales tax;
WHEREAS, a substantial portion of the revenues of
the Town of Vail are realized from the sales tax revenues;
WHEREAS, the sales tax revenues of the Town are used
to pay the bonded indebtedness of the Town; and
WHEREAS, the passage of H,B. 1662 would be a serious
infringement on the power and authority of Home Rule municipal-
hies guaranteed by Article XX of the Constitution of the State
of Colorado;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE TOWN COUNCIL
OF THE TOWN OF VAIL, COLORADO, THAT:
1) The Town Council of the Town of Vail hereby
expresses its strong opposition to H.B. 1662 relating to State
collected, locally shared sales taxes and urges its defeat by
the House and Senate of the General Assembly of the State of
Colorado.
