A RESOLUTION EXPRESSING THE TOWN
COUNCIL'S SUPPORT FOR PROPOSITION N0.
5, ALLOWING THE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS
TO SET COMPENSATION FOR COUNTY
ELECTED OFFICIALS
WHEREAS, the present provisions of the Constitution
of the State of Colorado provide that the General Assembly
will fix the salaries of elected County officials;
WHEREAS, the Commissioners of the Counties are
responsible for formulating the County budget, determining
levels of administrative services, and controlling County
funds, and they should also have the authority to set salaries
for County officers;
WHEREAS, in setting salaries, the Board of County
Commissioners may give attention to relative responsibilities,
complexity of assignments, work loads, comparisons among
classes or types of job categories, and other socio-economic
factors that are prevalent in the County; and
WHEREAS, the County C~~~~«issioners have a day-to-day
working knowledge of their respective County personnel systems
and are in the best position to set salaries of County officers
in relation to local needs;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE TT RESOLVED BY THE TOWN COUNCIL
OF THE TOWN OF VAIL, COLORADQ, THAT:
1) The Town Council hereby expresses its support
for Proposition No. 5, which allows County Commissioners to
set compensation of County elected officials and urges the
adoption of Proposition No. 5 on November 2, 1976.

October, 1976.
