HomeMy WebLinkAbout1976-32 Support for the Proposed Extension of the White River National Forest BoundariesRESOLUTION NO. ~~ Series of 1976 A RESOLUTION OF THE TOWN COUNCIL EXPRESSING ITS SUPPORT FOR THE PROPOSED EXTENSION OF THE WHITE RIVER NATIONAL FOREST BOUNDARIES WHEREAS, steps have been initiated to legislatively authorize the extension of the United States Forest Service boundary and management control for the White River National Forest; WHEREAS, the Bureau of Land Management and the Forest Service manage public lands under very similar management prin- ciples; WHEREAS, the consolidation of management under the United States Forest Service would simplify and improve admin- istration of those lands; and WHEREAS, the rapidly changing nature of public and private land use makes one agency management highly desirable from the efficiency and uniformity of policy standpoint; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE TOWN COUNCIL OF THE TOW1V OF VAIL, COLORADO, THAT: 1) The Council hereby expresses its support for the proposed extension of the boundaries of the White River National Forest to an area bounded by Cross Creek on the south, the foot of Vail Pass on the east, Wolcott on the west, and the Colorado River on the north. 2} The Town Council urges the Colorado Congres- sional delegation to take whatever steps are necessary to initiate legislation to extend the boundary as above stated.
