Vail Production Notes
DOR PRODUCTION NOTES:
General DOR Notes:
➢ Average Daily Performance for the current month and upcoming 6, September 1st, 2020 to March 31st, 2021, is
currently down -8.9% (-10.6 last report) compared to last year
➢ Since the last report (08/31), bookings activity for September 1st through February 28th has yielded a net of
+24,764 or 24,764 new bookings. This level of net booking activity has increased from the last report (+15,867).
o *It is important to consider that when we observe net statistics these numbers take into account a
summation of both bookings and cancellations as both types of activity were noted since the last report.
o **We cannot account for the net change to bookings for the month of March as this month is newly on
the books and therefore has no change from the prior report
➢ The 09/15 report has shown a change in new booking’s arrival date distribution as the number of new bookings
made is more evenly spread than the prior report. While net +24,764 new bookings were noted, an increase of
+56.1% from the last report, the new bookings made for arrival September 1st – October 31st account for 48% of
the total, while the new bookings made for November 1st – February 28th account for 52% of the total. This is a
stark change from the new booking arrival date distribution noted last report, with 73% of total new bookings
scheduled for arrival within the next 60 days. While many factors may contribute to this change in consumer
booking behavior, one of which may simply be seasonal timing as consumers wrap up their summer plans and
look forward to their next adventure during ski/snowboard season. As more resort operation’s press releases
are published, and consumers are able to understand what the sport’s on-resort experience may be like for the
upcoming season, there is potential for new booking’s arrival date distribution to shift away from the next 60
days, as October and November are largely shoulder months, and fall more evenly into the core winter season
months.
