information with all plan revision items clouded or otherwise identified.ഀ
Please respond in writing to each comment by marking the attached list or creating a responseഀ
letter. Indicate which plan sheet detail specification, or calculation shows the requestedഀ
information Please send revisions to the attention of the plans examiner with the buildingഀ
permit application number noted.ഀ
Please be sure to include on the resubmittal the engineer's or architect's "wet" stamp, signature,ഀ
registration number and date on the cover page of any structural calculations, all structuralഀ

General Comments:ഀ
Listed and discussed in this comments letter are responses generated from the review of a documentഀ
received from Alleman Construction Inc., stamped by KH Webb Architects dated June 26, 2007,ഀ
regarding an interior remodel at the Scorpio Complex. Please make reference to this document andഀ
the comments letter during the review and return responses.ഀ
Summary Comments:ഀ
1) Wall assemblies are proposed for reconstruction. These assemblies are non-bearing, interiorഀ
partitions. The Type of Construction assigned to this building is: I B. This type of constructionഀ
requires all wall assemblies to be on non-combustible construction or use of Fire Retardantഀ
Treated Wood products. Provide wall assembly intended for this project. 2003 IBC Sectionഀ
603.1ഀ
2) Exhaust fans are proposed to be installed in this project. The exhaust fans are penetrating aഀ
two-hour fire-resistive assembly. How is the penetration through this assembly beingഀ
addressed? At a minimum, a fire damper is required. 2003 IBC section 712.3.2 No mechanicalഀ
information was provided. What type of duct run is proposed? Show locations of duct, type ofഀ
duct and termination of duct.ഀ
3) A mechanical permit is required for the proposed mechanical work. 2003 IMC section 106.1ഀ
4) Electrical information not provided with this application. What does "relevant" code mean?ഀ
The Town of Vail is enforcing the 2005 National Electrical Code. An Electrical permit isഀ
required for the proposed work. 2005 NEC Article 80.19ഀ
5) Laundry room closet shows a proposed exhaust fan and a stackable washer and dryer. Whatഀ
is the CFM exhaust total proposed? Make-up air may be required if 200 CFM or more isഀ
achieved. 2003 IMC section 504.5ഀ
6) New smoke detectors are proposed for this project. This building is equipped with aഀ
monitored alarm system. These smoke detectors are considered "smoke alarms" and shall beഀ
installed a part of an over-all NFPA 72 compliant system. New devices.must work withഀ
existing building system and comply with NFPA 72 (2002 ed.) and Town of Vail Standards.ഀ
This building permit application has been released for construction with the assumptionഀ
that the above-stated corrections shall be addressed in a timely manner.ഀ
