2. The Contractor-shall be solely responsible-fbr supervising and directing - the Work,
using the Contractor's best skill and attention. The Contractor shall be solely
responsible for and have control over construction means, methods, techniques,
sequences and procedures and for coordinating all portions of the Work under the

D. Glued Laminated Wood
1. All fabrication and workmanship shall conform to U.B.C. Chapter 23,
Division 1, ANSI/AITC Standard Al 90.1 and ASTM D 3737, A.I.T.C. 117,
and the current edition of the Standard Specifications for Structural Glued
Laminated Douglas Fir (Coast Region) Lumber by the West Coast
Lumbermen's Association and the current edition of Timber Construction.
2, All work shall be done in the shop of an approved Type I licensed fabricator.
3. All laminations shall be 1-1/2" thick and of the width shown on the structural
drawings. All laminations shall be parallel to the bottom edge of the beam.
4. All glued laminated members shall be Douglas Fir, Combination 24F with
waterproof resorcinol or phenol resorcinol glue conforming to the Federal
Specifications MIL-A-397B-B. Core laminations may be hem fir. Use
combination 24F-V4 or 24F-V5 for simply supported beams and combination
24F-V8 or 24F-V10 for cantilevered beams.
5. A certificate of inspection for each Glu-Lam beam from an approved testing
agency shall be submitted to and approved by the local Building Department
and by the Engineer prior to erection.
6. All Glue Laminated wood beams shall be cambered as noted on the structural
drawings.

actions and proceedings (including legal fees associated with threatened or actual
