Looking at plans to do drive through clinics. Goal to provide 4,000/week. Goal is 70+ age group through February. • Vail Mountain Update, Beth Howard (15 minutes) • Snow base 30” behind last year, however snowmaking teams did a great job to get the mountain to 90% • Finance Report, Kathleen Halloran (5 minutes) • Sales Tax Collections: • Nov: up 10% YOY, YTD 21M, down 15% YOY – better than budgeted in Crisis plan • Real Estate through Dec. 28: 9.8M, up 36% YOY, record year for RET • Construction Use tax, 2m down from 2.5M • Parking Sales down 39%. Partially due to blue pass sales but also saw decrease in value passes. Daily sales up 28% YOY • YTD 60M down 12% YOY but projected a 25% decrease VEAC Group feedback • Faessler: January looking to be 35-40% down • Connolly: Down significantly in Dec but a lot of early December bookings were what canceled. Soft in January as well but uptick in Feb/March. Planning for even busier summer than 2020 • Seeing what is happening in Aspen going to Red. Looking into summer, don’t see it being significantly different from last summer • Town Manager’s Report, Scott Robson (10 minutes) • 100% deed restricted housing development kick off this fall • Transit • TOV transit has been challenging with 20 capacity, specifically for locals trying to get to work on time • Looking for higher transit from middle of valley from ECO. • Anyone who has feedback on transit, please email Council • November Ballot Initiatives were put on hold with COVID and revisiting now, including: Lodging Tax, permanent funding source for affordable housing, etc. • Morgan request for update on public consumption and extended premises? Robson: Heard clear message from Council around positivity seen around these two items. Vlaar: We can have Matt Mire join at some point to go over the legalities of moving those forward post COVID • Special Events: Town is meeting with VVF and other partners to dial in what this summer looks like. • Business Relief Funds, Mia Vlaar (10 minutes) • Eagle Country Business Relief Grant Program (Jill Klosterman) • 205 applications received, awarded 93 with $1.3M and looking at another 35 today. Could fund $2.5M more • Application: https://sites.google.com/eaglecounty.us/covid/bridge-grants?authuser=0 • Some Criteria: $15k max. Looking at revenue change from 2019 to 2020. Asset change in attempt to save money on their own. Other funding sources received. Currently available for one businesses, if an owner has multiple • Focus on essential business expenses • Murray: Coming from a Non-profit view, reliant on private funding could be even harder for 2021 when events come back. Consider accepting non-profit businesses as well • Vail Specific program for 2021 will be additive to this program, focusing on FTE requirements. • Straw Poll – Destimetrics, Mia Vlaar (10 minutes) • This program will provide the Vail community with valuable insight on occupancy for the upcoming weekends allowing us to capture reservations made within a very short lead time • Participating properties will see their own occupancy laid on top of aggregated • Plan to start next week • Guest Experience (10 minutes) • Vail Virtual Scavenger Hunt – Liz Gladitsch • 142 unique participants. Looking for more engagement • Magic of Lights – Sarah Franke • Final 2 weeks. 18,000 participants to date • Testing out a few more activations – Thursday live music • PrimaVail Training and Employee Engagement – Alison Wadey • CSE Update, Jeremy Gross (5 minutes) • Few winter 2020 events on the books. Through the lens and ski for MS are happening virtually. Film Fest and Taste of Vail are still being planned. Powabunga has requested to move to December. • Ambient entertainment will continue. • Crowd favorites coming back this summer including most of the sporting tournaments, music festivals, GoPro, etc. But all will likely continue to evolve and look different than in the past with evolving public health guidance. • Discovervail.com for all events as the change • New members: Nick Conover and Doug Smith • VLMD Update, Liz Gladitsch (5 minutes) • New Board Members: Kam Bozich (Slifer), Michael Holton (Vail Health), Scott Gubrud (Four Seasons), Liana Moore (Antlers) • $140K Pay per click campaign to get a better understanding of how guests search for summer, year round as baby steps to year round marketing efforts Continuing to focus on a more aggressive data capture, looking to lodging community, event producer partners • Other Business (5 minutes) Next Meeting Tuesday, February 9, 2021 8:00 – 10:00 AM, Zoom Meeting
