Communications@Inntopia.com www.Inntopia.com Data as of: 01/15/2021 Vail Production Notes DOR PRODUCTION NOTES: General DOR Notes: ➢ Average Daily Performance for the current month and upcoming 6, January 1st, 2021 to July 31st, 2021 has improved since last report, but is currently down -13.7% (-13.9% last report) compared to last year ➢ Room Nights Booked (RNB) for the current month and upcoming 6, January 1st, 2021 to July 31st, 2021 total 131,242 and are currently down -72,566, or -35.5%, compared to last year at this time (203,446) ➢ Since the last report (12/31), bookings activity for January 1st through June 30th, 2021 has yielded a net of +15,294 or 15,294 new bookings. This level of net booking activity has decreased from the last report (+20,384) o *It is important to consider that when we observe net statistics these numbers take into account a summation of both bookings and cancellations as both types of activity were noted since the last report. o **We cannot account for the net change to bookings for the month of July as this month is newly on the books and therefore has no change from the prior report ➢ New booking’s arrival date distribution of the total 15,294 (20,384 last report) added since last report: o January: +6,247 (+8,910 last report) or 42% (43.7% last report) o February: +5,177 (+3,084 last report) or 33% (18.8% last report) o March: +2,525 (+3,068 last report) or 16% (15.1% last report) o April: +671 (+718 last report) or 4% (3.5% last report) o May: +8 (+92 last report) or 0.05% (0.5% last report) o June: +666 (-267 last report) or 4% (-1.3% last report) ➢ Net new bookings added since the 12/31 report follow the previous uptick in business, though underperforming the bookings noted last report by roughly 5,000. While still a very strong net new bookings increase figure, this decrease highlights the shortcomings in April and May as net new bookings continue to stay suppressed in those months. June experienced a large change in trend, with a net reduction in bookings noted last report, June has added +666 net new bookings for the month, 81.0% of which have arrival dates between the 20th and 30th. January added the largest share of net new bookings, 42% of total or +6,247, and 77.6% of net new bookings have arrival dates of the 15th to the 31st. February added the second most net new bookings, +5,177 or 33%, though the month is performing the worst of all in scope compared to last year with an average daily performance of -25.3%. As we pass the holiday season, the next 3 winter months in scope remain down double- digit figures in comparison to last year, leaving quite the challenge for hoteliers and property managers to fill in said gaps. As short-lead bookings continue to help feed the marketplace there is always potential for a large turnaround in the month, for the month. In addition to short-lead bookings, a change of power in Washington DC combined with a democratic sweep of congressional power has the potential to create more options for economic recovery actions, and may introduce more creative, and frequent, actions as there are less barriers to implementing policy. Even with an expected heightened level of economic stimulus, and the continued dispersal of COVID-19 vaccines, the road ahead to recovery remains long and unclear, though possibly, shortened.
