Amendment to the 1999 N.E.C. Town of Vail Ordinance 10-1-6.
Overhead services are not allowed in the Town of Vail.
Underground services have to be in conduit (PVC) from the transformer to the electric meter, main disconnect
switch and to the first electrical distribution circuit breaker panel.
The main disconnect switch shall be located next to the meter on the exterior wall of the structure easilv
accessible.
All underground conduits are required to be inspected before back-filling the trench.
In multi-family dwelling units, no electrical wiring or feeder cables shall pass from one unit to another. Common
walls and spaces are accepted.
NM Cable (Romex) is not allowed in commercial buildings or structures exceeding three (3) stories.
No use of aluminum wire smaller than size #8 will be oermitted with the Town oF Vail.
TOWN OF VAIL ELECTRICAL PERMIT GUIDELINES
All installations of exterior hot tubs or spa's require a DRB approval from planning. This application will
not be accepted without a copy of the DRB approval form attached (if applicable).
If this permit is for installation of an exterior hot tub or spa on a new elevated platform or deck over
30" above grade, you must also obtain a building permit.
if this permit is for installation of an exterior hot tub or spa on any existing deck or elevated platform,
a structural engineer must review the existing condition and verify that it will support the added
concentrated load. Please provide a copy of the structural engineers wet stamped letter or drawing
with this application.
If this is a remodel in a multi-family building with a homeowners association, a letter of permission
from the association is required.
If this permit is for a commercial space, two (2) sets of stamped drawings are required.

The following is additional information on the proposed work atthe Willows. This information should be considered an additionto the Scope of Work Outline dated September 28, which !'rassubnitted with the building permit apptication.
l-. Condo ceiling at corridors will be L hour rated thereforeelininating the need to rock wool concrete ceilingpenetrations.
2. Condo entry doors will be replaced with new 20 ninutelabel doors with spring loaded hinges and smoke seal atjambs. caps at existing door jarnbs will be packed withmineral wool .
3. Provide one new emergtency liqht with battery back-up at acentral locati.on in each of four corridors.
4. No work other than painting is planned for the doors andframes at either end of each corridor other thanrefinishing.
5. The exterior, ground-Ievel solid exit doors will bereplaced with ful"l light non-rated doors.

A. Unlawful deposits: Subject to subsection C thereof, it is unlawfil for any person to litter,
track or deposit, o. "uusl to be littered, tracked or deposited" sand, gravel, rocks, mud, dirt,
snow, ice, or any other debris or material upon any street, sidewalk, alley or public place, or
any portion thereof.
B. Notice; Abatement: The Director of Public Works may notiff and require any person who
violates or causes another to violate the provision of subsection A hereof, or who has in the
Director's employment a person who violates or cluses another to violate the same, top
remove such iand, gravel, rocla, mud, dirt, snow, ice or any other debris or material within
twenty four (24) hours after receipt of sard notice by the Director of Public Works. ln the
event the person so notified does not comply with the notice within the period of time herein
specified, the Director of Public Works, or other authorized agent, may cause any such sand,
gravel, rocks, mud, dirt, snow. ice, debris or any other material to be removed from any stregt
or alley at the expense ofthe notified.
C. Exceptions: The provisions of subsection A hereof shall not be applicable:
t. Wittrin ttre immediate area of any constructiott, maintenance or repair project of any
street or ailey or of any water main, sewer main, electricity line, gas line, telephone line
or any appurtenanc e thereto;

D. Summons; Penalty: As an alternative to the notice for removal provided in subsection B
above, any
person who violates or causes another to violate the same, may be issued a surnmons to
appear before the Municipal Court of the Town for said violations, and upon being found
guilty ofa violation hereunder be punished as provided in Section 1-4-l ofthis code.

If this permit requires a Town of Vail Fire Department Approval, Engine er's (Public Works)
review and approval, a Planning Department review of Health Departrnent review, and a review
by the Building Departrnent, the estimated time for a total review may take as long as tkee (3)
weeks.
All commercial (large or srnall) and all multi-family permits will have to follow the above
mentioned maximum requirements. Residential and small projects should take a lesser amount of
time. However, if residential or smaller projects impact the various above mentioned
departrnents with regard to necessary revierv. these projects may also take the three (3) week
period.
Every attempt will be made by this departrnent to expedite this permit as soon as possible.
I, the undersigned, understand the Plan Check procedure and time frame. I also understand that if
the permit is not picked up by the expiration date, that I must still pay the Plan Check Fee and
that if I fail to do so it rnay affect future permits that I apply for.
