Swimming pool and spa plan submittal Architectural Comments: This is the second correction letter, please address bolded comments. Closed comments have been removed from the letter. Provide a response letter as indicated on the cover sheet. 2 Revise plans to show occupant loads for the pool and pool deck areas. Show locations and details for required exits from the pool deck area per IBC ch. 10. There is too much information on sheet L-2 to understand exactly where the pool deck starts and stops. a) The scale between the drawings differ. When scaling the pool size on L-2 it measures 24'x14'while on P1.1 the pool scales to 32'x18'. Please coordinate. It is impossible to check occupant loading. b) Are there interior spaces that exit into the pool area that have to be added to the occupant load? c) The exiting is unclear. Provide a clear and concise exit plan. Show the location and direction of the swing of the gates. 3 Revise plans to show compliance with IBC 3109.4 There is too much information on L-2 to understand where the pool barrier is or where the gates are. There is more information on L-2 that is being applied for. a) Provide a site plan that is for the scope of the work being requested, clearly showing location of the barrier and gates. b) Sheet P1.1 refers to sheet A3.4, this sheet is not provided. c) Detail SD-009 indicates 3 7/8"at the bottom between the fence and the ground. As a result of our conversation, we are resubmitting our revised plans for approval, addressing your comments. As you requested, I tiave graphically changed the L-2 drawing so that you can better understand the pool enclosure boundary and pool deck area. In addition, this letter is to clarify that the pool area has no building exits leading directly into the pool deck area. The pool deck area is completely enclosed by a key lock gate and fence designed to meet all code requirements. The exit that is located closest to the north side of the winter spa area allows people to exit the building and flow freely in two directions (west and south) from the building and travel to the TOV bike path without having to enter any gated or enclosed pool/spa areas. The area that has been calculated for pool deck occupancy load is now shaded gray on the L-2 plan. Please call with any further questions. We look forward to hearing from you soon. The hydrostatic relief valve makes this drain compliant with IBC 3109.5 as referred to in your comments. If the cover is removed and the main drain is blocked by any anything, such as a person's body, the hydrostatic relief valve will open to relieve any pressure build up in the sump. If the suction system has a single suction outlet or multiple suction outlets which can be isolated by valves (as with main drains and skimmers), each suction outlet shall protect against bather entrapment by an anti-vortex cover, a 12" x 12" or larger grate, or other means. 2. Anti-vortex covers reduce open area of the suction fitting. To maintain 1 �/z ft/sec velocities, use a flow rate of 4 �/z g.p.m. for each square inch of grate or cover open area. 3. The pool shall not be operated if the suction outlet grate is missing, broken, or secured in such a way that it can be removed without the use of toofs. 4. � State codes may differ from ASME/ANSI A112.19.8 recommendations. It is the responsibility of the installer to choose the proper suction fitting for the application. S.
