Paul Dike, the contractor from Ceres, and I have spent several hours going over the dangers of the existing trees. For the expense alone, I do not take this lightly. I have lived at this address since 2003 and watched as the overabundance of trees on a tiny .17 acre lot has destroyed my ability to grow any kind of decent looking shrub or ground cover. When I first moved in, the canopy was not as dense and I actually had a bit of grass. No longer. I am also finally planning on an extensive re -landscaping and have hired Ric Fields of Fieldscape to that end. We have just started the discussion and, as such, I do not have a plan to submit as of yet. First and foremost of the trees is a cottonwood that has become a hazard. It has left huge knuckles in the front and side yard and its roots have grown under the driveway and buckled it in many places. I need to redo the driveway as a result. I am also 68 years old and tired of tripping over the raised pavers, and I am sure the UPS delivery folks are as well. Several trees are also a fire hazard. Two specifically that should not be in question are: a lodgepole pine just feet from my back deck, clearly within the ignition zone, and a spruce that hangs close to my chimney which vents a wood burning fireplace. My goals are: fire mitigation; to beautify what is a regrettable looking lot; and to keep irrigation at a minimum due to drought conditions. I appreciate your time and consideration in this matter. My best, Dana M. Unlike other roofing products that wear out quickly, deplete natural resources or leach out chemicals overtime, roof tiles have proved to be the most durable and sustainable product available. Hot air releases th--h tha riri ventilates off the roof • Sustainability - Lowest life cycle costs based upon the life of the roofing material and required maintenance. • Environmentally friendly - Materials do not deplete limited natural resources and have no chemical preservatives used in the production; all waste can be recycled and does not go into land fills; tile roofs' long life reduces the long-term need for reroofing. • Reflectivity - Independent testing has demonstrated that tiles have the ability to cut the transfer of heat compared to other roofing materials such as asphalt shingles by up to 70%. • Energy Cost Savings - Natural air ventilation under the tile creates a heat transfer barrier providing a cooler house in the summer & warmer house in the winter reducing overall heating and cooling costs. Our Warranty Westile offers a (50) fifty-year, non - prorated limited lifetime product warranty. We warranty our product, not the homeowner. Our Westile product warranty is fully transferable for the entire 50 years. Please understand that our warranty protects a homeowner against product or manufacturuing defects. Westile does not warranty against circumstantial damage such caused by hail, foot traffic or any acts of nature For a copy of the warranty please go to westile.com. Product Durability Burnt Chestnut Ancient romans used concrete for roofing because it had a long life cycle and durability over time. Today not much has changed, our concrete roof tile is composed of local aggregate, water, coloring, additives and Portland cement compacted into a mold to form the roof tile. The color is added into the mix to ensure the color runs throughout the entire roof tile body. The thermal mass of the concrete tile keeps a Westile roof from transferring the heat into the attic while the sheer physical mass of the tile offers a natural resistance to wind and hail. Class A fire rated with no special underlayments. ,w Impact Resistance Rating {, Westile has received a rating of Class 3 through Factory Mutual test #4473. The testing agency makes molds of hailstones, freezes them at different intervals and then shoot them from an air gun at 88 MPH to simulate hail falling from the sky. Westile has passed a 1.75" simulated hailstone therefore qualifying homeowners fora possible insurance reduction with no cosmetic waiver required to receive this impact resistance insurance discount. Please contact your insurance company for details. Priced Right There are other factors beyond the initial cost to be considered when choosing a new roof. Westile's roof tile is not petroleum based product which means the pricing has been very stable over the years. Westiles life span vs cost, environmental impact and performance have always been a great indicator of the products quality and durability for this region of the country. The great thing about a tile roof is the way you can customize your own roof by creating your own unique blend of tiles to match your style and sophistication. You can choose one of the Westile popular blends or completely make up a brand new blend that's exclusive for your home. Come visit the Westile showroom at our Littleton manufacturing facility and create that special blend that will be unique to your home. Everyone's eye is a little different and everyone sees what they want to see and that's why we encourage people to come and see for themselves. Show the neighborhood just what kind of style, sophistication and creative flare you have. Custom Blend THINKING ABOUT COLOR r Mountain Shadow Blend Colorado Blend Coal Creek Blend Roofs are large areas and looking at one piece of tile will not give you the full affect for how it will look on the entire roof. We encourage you to prop up any sample color tiles that you are considering in the sun and looking at them throughout the course of the day and you will notice the color can change with the movement of the sun. We encourage you to look at installed roofs with similar roof pitch because roof pitch can change the appearance of the overall color too. It's going to be there for a long time so make sure it's the right color. Coal Creek Blend After %1 ■ Shake Black Forest Before T -.
