EVENT DESCRIPTION
1. Is this a new or existing event/program in Vail?
New
2. Please provide a detailed description of the event/program and its activities.
The Triple Bypass is a non-competitive bicycle ride that travels over 3 mountain passes (Juniper, Loveland and Vail). We offer one
of the most recognizable cycling events in the country and have participants from all 50 states and several countries. Our ride
begins in Evergreen and offers full support with closed roads, police escorts, and a several aid stations along the route. We pass
through Vail yearly, but haven't finished in the Town for many years.
The finish is a celebration of achievement with refreshments, relaxation and high fives. Our expo includes vendors, a catered
meal for riders, games, music and lounging.
3. Please list the specific venues that you plan to utilize, including dates and times, and whether or not you have
contacted them to confirm availability. The Event Producer is responsible for booking and securing any necessary
venues.
Ford Field is available and we are requesting use of the area from 9am on Friday 7/9/21 through 3pm on Sunday 7/11/21. This
allows for tent and facility set-up and removal. Joel Rabinowitz at Parks and Recreation has the confirmed date availability as well
as a contingency date in September (9/3-9/5).
Because of the unusual nature of events during COVID, it is quite possible that September will be our preferred date for the 2021
Triple Bypass.
4. Do you plan to use Vail Recreation District Facilities?
Yes
4a. Please attach letter or email confirmation from Vail Recreation District if using VRD facilities.
RE_ Vail Rec Facilities Triple Bypass July 10.pdf
5. If any of the event/program takes place outside of the Town of Vail, please explain where the event will take
place and why.
Our event begins in Evergreen (as it is a bicycle ride), but ends in Vail. The finish expo and celebration would be held only in the
Town of Vail.
ENVIRONMENTAL PRACTICES
1. Which of these environmental practices will you commit to executing at your event/program?
All of these
2. Please describe your commitment to environmental sustainability and detail measures that will be taken during
your event to ensure minimal environmental impact and sustainable best practices.
As our event is a bicycle ride, most of the participants at Ford Fields will have arrived via bike. We have secured Walking
Mountains over the past 5 years to manage our recycling and composting and always use compostable utensils and plates. We
also have a filling station for water and all cups are compostable for any other liquids. We also include a shuttle service for riders
back to Evergreen to increase capacity on transportation rather than individual cars.
Our banners are all reusable.
EVENT/PROGRAM PARTICIPANTS
1. Number of participants (athletes, artists, exhibitors, etc.) anticipated
4,950
2. Number of volunteers needed
150
3. Number of event/program staff
15
4. Estimate of total number of spectators/attendees anticipated
2,500
SCORECARD CRITERIA QUESTIONS
1. Estimate the number of destination guests from within Colorado, with a focus on the Front Range that your
event/program will bring to Vail
2,950
2. Estimate the number of destination guests from outside Colorado your event/program will bring to Vail
1,750
3. Estimate the number of international guests your event/program will bring to Vail
250
4. How will your event/program increase sales tax in Vail?
Riding over 3 mountain passes is an achievement that warrants celebration after the ride is over. Many of our riders come from
out of the state and country and book hotel stays to complement the full Colorado experience. Because Vail is a destination in
Colorado and has a cache that aligns with our riders' interests, we anticipate more extended lodging stays in the area as well as
income generated by restaurant and retail sales.
5. CRC - Brand Fit: How will your event support the mission and vision of the Vail Town Council?
Economic Impact:
We are bring thousands of individuals (7,500+) to our finish and 30% of those individuals stay overnight in the area. Our riders
are affluent, over half with incomes of $150,000 or more. Also, because many of our riders come from out of the state and
country, we are able to introduce a new group of individuals the Town that may have not have otherwise chosen Vail to recreate.
Optimization of the Seasonal Calendar:
We offer a summertime event to bring people to the area balance the ski season. A good portion of our riders don't just come for
the day, but choose to stay for the weekend. With Town coordination, we can introduce many new people to the year-round Vail
experience.
Positive Community Experience and Results:
We offer great events. Our Net Promoter Score score in 2019 was 74. We feel that we bring a great positivity to the area as our
riders are celebrating a personal, non-competitive achievement. The proceeds from the Triple are donated back to the community
(over $3M to date). We would like to work with Vail area non-profits to support the causes that support the community.
6. CRC - Brand Fit: How will your event or program support the Vail brand identity?
We support Vail as the Premier International Mountain Resort Community. Our ride is able to attract an audience from all 50
states that is healthy, active and participates in outdoor recreation. Large groups from Minneapolis, Chicago and New York
regularly do our ride and we have seen an increase in international participants from Mexico, Canada and Europe. As many view
Vail as a ski destination; we would like to bring them to the area in the summer and introduce them to the Vail Valley year round.
7. CRC - Event Timing: How is it the right event/program at the right time?
We have a well-recognized cycling event that has grown from a few riders to thousands of loyal participants. With the dramatic
increase in bicycle sales over the past year, we would like to capture new riders and present an achievable event (we have
multiple length options), finishing in a well recognized and gorgeous location. With the past year of cancellations because of
COVID, we'd like to offer a pure form of the Triple, going back to our roots and offering a truly exceptional experience by finishing
in Vail.
Our event is completely outdoors and will follow all guidelines imposed by government agencies in relation to the pandemic. Our
hope is that we can host the Triple in July with high fives and hugs, but understand that COVID determines how we are able
interact. We are willing to consider moving the date to September entirely to give ample runway for the production our riders
have come to expect.
8. CRC - Community Enrichment: How will your event/program attract target markets of both visitors and
community members?
Our event is not just for the participants, but for the families and friends that join them to celebrate at the finish. 70% of our
riders meet at least one person at the finish. We hope to engage the community through our non-profit giving. Since we donate
to local NPOs, we hope to engage the Vail community by participation or support of the Triple, as we will donate to groups that
apply for funding within our corridor or participate as a volunteer group.
9. CRC - Growth Potential: How will the event/program deliver fresh content? (Fresh content means new
programming, entertainers, adding additional days and activities.)
Our ride is unique to the Vail cycling experience in that we bring a large number of recreational riders in a non-competitive
environment. We will give reason to bring a new group visitors to Vail and encourage them to consider an extended stay when
planning their holiday around the Triple.
If allowed to host in September, we see a possibility of an additional gravel ride on Sunday to encourage new riders to the area,
capitalizing on the area to the North of the Town Center. We would be willing to create a weekend schedule of events, including
events for riders of multiple disciplines.
The Triple doesn't normally host live entertainment, but are willing to coordinate with other local producers to combine efforts for
both our riders and the community. For instance, we would be willing to consider sharing our venue for entertainers or activities
within the town, if it aligns with our finish atmosphere. If there is income through ticket sales for the additional entertainment, we
would donate our portion back to local non-profits.
10. CRC - Growth Potential: How will the event/program promote an atmosphere of vitality, fun and celebration?
The Triple Bypass finish is inherently a celebration. We have food, beer, cycling related vendors and many areas for lounging and
sharing experiences of the day. Those visiting Vail but not participating will be drawn to the celebration to attend the expo, live
entertainment and enjoy the festive celebratory environment. We would love to bring the farmer's market to the area, circus
performers, Luche Libre wrestlers or other entertainment to attract the visitors not directly associated with the event.
The celebration would also be felt outside of the venue, as many riders will join their families and friends for a well earned meal,
drink and recovery. Our riders are primarily over 35 with a maturity and income that aligns with the Vail brand.
11. CRC - Marketing Strength: What is the marketing reach for the event/program? You will be asked more
marketing questions in a future section. (Reach refers to the total number of different people or households
exposed, at least once, to a medium during a given period.)
We use a variety of platforms to push our marketing messages out. Our marketing efforts stem from an overall annual plan
developed by our event director, Team Evergreen board members and our PR/Marketing firm. We then execute this plan across
all our Team Evergreen communication channels: social media (organic and paid), press releases to a paid PR wire-service, e-
blast marketing, digital/print ads, radio ads, google ads and in-person events/activities.
● 5 Social Media accounts / 12 channels
● Total Organic Social Media Impressions (number of times our content is displayed and seen) from Nov. 2019 - Sept. 2020:
3,307,401
● Total Social Media Followers: 20K
● Total Press Releases for the 2020 Season: 12
● Total E-blasts from our PR firm for the 2020 Season: 31
● Exclusive Endemic Media E-News List: 430
● Colorado Specific Media E-News List: 75
● Team Evergreen E-News List: 38,000 (1 x week to the overall TE audience / 1 x month to event-specific audiences)
12. CRC - Marketing Strength: What is the potential for the event/program to leverage media exposure and attract
sponsorship support?
Team Evergreen works hand-in-hand with a local boutique PR/Marketing Firm: Thorpe Marketing. This enables us to have a much
bigger brand presence and stand out among the many events on the calendar. With this partnership, we have a stronger voice
with exclusive media and are eligible for discounted ad rates among publications. We have a very strong, authentic and engaged
social media presence among different disciplines of cycling / multiple audiences (road, MTB, Enduro, gravel, women’s specific
cycling). Our social media channels are consistently our top referrals to our websites. Additionally, the firm helps us maximize our
relationships with sponsors for exposure creating “win-win” partnerships that sponsors feel good about and return for year after
year.
13. CRC - Producer Qualifications: Explain the event/program producer’s quality, knowledge and resources to
sustain and grow the event.
Team Evergreen has been producing the event for 32 years and Jennifer Barbour, Ride Director and Executive Director has been
involved in the production for 8 years. The 2019 Net Promoter Score was 74 (see attached survey), which is an exceptional
display of our management of the event. We have secured the same vendors to manage traffic, infrastructure and rider
experience as we have in 2019. This is not a new event and we are knowledgeable and dependable to provide the best
production experience.
13. CRC - Producer Qualifications: Explain the adaptability of the event and the event producer to adjust to
changing public health orders.
We will prepare a COVID response plan to be reviewed and approved by the CSE in early 2021. A number of items will be
addressed including social distancing, crowd size limits, finish line restrictions, food and beverage handling, temperature checks
and protective gear where necessary.
Our event is a large gathering outdoors, and we will follow governmental directives at the time. We would like to secure July 10th
with September 4th as a contingency. The Triple Bypass finish is a celebratory gathering and if restrictions in July pose a burden
to producing what our riders expect, we hope that September will allow that opportunity. We have informed all of our vendors of
the contingency and will determine a date in early Spring to announce a postponement to September, if necessary.

EVENT ECONOMIC IMPACT
1. Potential benefits to the Town of Vail - Estimate number of room nights for your event or program.
2,250
2. Potential benefits to the Town of Vail - Potential benefits to the Town of Vail - Estimate increased spending
generated by your event or program.
$710,625
Example: Increased spend by attendees in restaurants, shops, lodging or activities.
3. Potential benefits to the Town of Vail - What estimated return on investment (ROI) in dollars should the Town of
Vail expect?
$665,625
ROI in this case refers to for each dollar the event/program is funded, how many dollars will be received by the Town of Vail from event impact.)
Example: Estimated ROI - Formula: # of attendees x total average spending = $ (2000 attendees) x ($240 daily spend ) = $480,000
4. Explanation of how you will direct prospective attendees to book lodging within the Town of Vail and a
description of how you will track the number of lodging nights generated. REMINDER: Per the CSE funding
agreement, the event producer is REQUIRED to direct attendees to book in Town of Vail hotels and lodges.
As we feel the Colorado experience is essential to the overall perception of the ride, we want to sell the best of what Colorado
offers, including lodging in a world class mountain resort. The Triple is successful, but the ability to direct riders to stay and enjoy
what Vail has to offer will further elevate our ride.
When we open registration, we have a groups codes in place directing our riders to pre-established lodging partners in Vail. The
codes given to us by each resort that wants to partner with the Triple are used to track the number of stays and the overall
revenue generated. We have a dedicated lodging section of our website where riders can explore options, get codes and contact
the resort. We will also send out dedicated emails to our rider list to encourage them to book lodging as well as provide them with
updates on activities within the Town of Vail.
BUDGET
Using the provided budget template, provide a detailed estimated event/program budget, including anticipated revenues and expenses.
1. Describe how you will use the funds requested from the CSE.
Because we donate our profits from the Triple Bypass back to the non-profit groups that volunteer for the Triple as well as provide
grants to communities and cycling advocacy groups along our corridor, any funds that allow us to reduce our operating cost will
enable us to give more to charitable organizations. The funds received from the CSE will help us pay for rentals and operational
expenses.
We always include donations as an expense item in our budget and can vary based on our profits. Our current goal for 2021 is
$357,000 to nonprofit charitable organizations (TBD) from the Triple Bypass. Every dollar we receive as a grant or sponsorship
helps reduce our operational costs, providing more money for non-profits.
2. Please upload the provided complete event/program budget template here.
2021 Event Budget Triple Bypass Vail.xlsx
3. What percentage % of the total event/program budget is the CSE being asked to fund?
3
4. If the event/program is not funded at full request, how will the event change with a lower funding allocation?
Team Evergreen runs 5 events (the proceeds for all TE events are given back to NPOs and community based organizations) and
the Triple Bypass is our primary fundraiser. The more income we can dedicate to production expenses such as tents or site
infrastructure, the more we are left to donate to charitable causes and non-profit cycling advocacy efforts. We still plan to offer
the same experience without funding, but will not be able to donate as much back to the community.
5. Should the CSE decide not to support this event/program at all, will it still occur?
Yes
6.What dollar amount of the total event/program revenue do you expect the event itself to generate? (ticket sales,
merchandise, food and alcohol sales, etc.)
1,169,000
7. Do you intend to host the event or program in Vail beyond 2021?
Yes
7a. How many years beyond 2021?
4+
7b. Do you anticipate requesting funding from the CSE for 2022?
Yes
MARKETING
Please upload your event/program marketing plan and budget, include strategy, channel, method, budget and
execution dates.
2021 Planning - TE Marketing Plan.pdf
1. Objectives: What are you trying to accomplish through your marketing efforts?
We want to showcase the Colorado riding experience to an increased share of cyclists outside of the state and country. The Triple
Bypass sells out every year, but we feel that we can have an even broader reach with our unique event, and gain a larger share
of out of state guests. Though Colorado riders are our beloved bread and butter, we believe through our national campaigns we
can reach a larger audience and expand our reach nationwide. We hope to sell out the event earlier and concentrate on our
partners and programs for outreach.
2. Strategy: How will you meet your objectives?
We provide social media and digital marketing nationwide, beginning a month before registration opens (this year in January)
through the month after the event. We dedicate over $75,000 of our event budget to marketing and advertising which includes
social media, print, online and radio advertising. Please see attached Marketing Plan.
Team Evergreen works Thorpe Marketing. They have a very strong, authentic and engaged social media presence among
different disciplines of cycling / multiple audiences (road, MTB, Enduro, gravel, women’s specific cycling). Our social media

relationships with sponsors to create great, long-lasting partnerships.

4. Activation: Detail in town/in village activation opportunities to promote your event or program. (Definition of
Activation: Create an expanded presence throughout the community and stimulate the participation of the
merchants, restaurants, bars and lodges.)
There are several ways we can expand our presence before, during and after the Triple Bypass. Many riders will be excited to
finish in Vail and we feel we can positively engage our audience well outside of the event date.
1. Sharing local promotions/activities in Vail from January through August on our social and email distribution
2. Training camp with Vail as the host town, which will include package lodging through one of our partners
3. Host a scavenger hunt/Instagram contest at local establishments during the event weekend
4. We are happy to invite key retailers and restaurateurs to do our event and provide discounts to local hospitality workers to join
us on the ride.
5. We will work will a local non-profit to promote their programs and events. Collaborate with a local NPO on an event after the
ride as a benefit to that organization such as a Sunday brunch or morning yoga.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Are there any questions you have for the CSE or other things you'd like to share with the board that are not
included in the application?
The pandemic has forced the cancellation of all of our events (Triple, Mt Evans Hill Climb, Beti Bike Bash, and Desert Gravel) in
2020. What it has done is allowed us to re-evaluate what we do and why we do it. We have determined that the best thing for our
ride and our organization is to get back to our roots and provide an exceptional experience - start to finish. We feel that crossing
the line in Vail will be an amazing end to a remarkable day.
Also, Vail is a recognizable brand that will attract new riders to The Triple Bypass which will expand our reach, bringing more
riders from outside the state and country. We are dedicated to creating a finish that is well-organized, has little impact to
residents and can be a highlight of the Vail summer calendar. We are willing to be creative with parking, shuttles, routes and
transportation to address any concerns from the CSE.
We have run the Triple for 32 years on the same weekend in July and are willing to experiment if necessary with a new date to
better coordinate with the Town's busy summer calendar. A finish in Vail is important to us and we are willing and ready to be
flexible to accommodate the Town's requirements and address concerns.

of the Colorado Rocky Mountains.

THE BEST SUPPORTSPECTACULAR COURSE EXCELLENT AFTER PARTY
Team Evergreen is Colorado’s largest, longest-running cycling club, offering rides and events to every cyclist. Through the proceeds
of the Triple Bypass, TE has given over $3 Million to cycling advocacy, non-profit volunteer groups and charitable organizations
along our ride corridor. Among many benefits, these donations have made roads safer, built new trails, and provided bikes for kids.
TRIPLE GIVING
“Team Evergreen is one of the most important bike clubs in the front range and an essential partner to Bicycle Colorado. Team
Evergreen's support has allowed us to advocate for bicycle-friendly laws, secure funding for bike infrastructure, and deliver our
learn to ride education. We would simply be unable to have the impact that we do without Team Evergreen in our corner”.
-Pete Piccolo, Executive Director, Bicycle Colorado
“Team Evergreen has been an invaluable partner for COMBA in our efforts to plan and fund new mountain bike experiences in the
Front Range. We work together throughout the year and quite frankly COMBA would not have the same impact for the MTB
community without TE’s support”.
-Gary Moore, Executive Director, Colorado Mountain Bike Association
The Triple Bypass is expected to host to over 5,000
participants in 2021. Our past riders are affluent, with on
average 38 years old, and represent all 50 states,
including multiple countries.
For 2021, our goal is to encourage a WIDE RANGE of
participants:
1.Avid and experienced endurance cyclists
2.Riders new to the sport and ready for their first
event
3.Corporate teams looking to motivate employees
4.Women wanting a welcoming and fun event
5.Racers looking for a personal best on a unique
course
TARGET MARKET

learn, and celebrate.

through a wide variety of opportunities:
1.Email database of 35,000+
2.Highly engaged social media following of 10K+

5.Educational videos, ambassadors and monthly
events
CONNECTING
YOUR BRAND
Nuun hydration was looking for opportunities to
offer samples of their product and connect with
riders to explain the benefits.
Results: Over 10,000 sampled. We integrated Nuun into
multiple training rides where riders had more time to
sample their drinks and connect with the Nuun team. At
the event, we offered Nuun at all rest stops and
educated riders with a hydration guide pre-event.
inGamba offers luxury cycling tours all over the
world. When inGamba approached about a
partnership with the Triple Bypass, we created a
custom opportunity to create a sales funnel through
email marketing and online contests.
Results: Selected trips were sold out and inGamba
gained hundreds of leads who have opted-in to be part
of the inGamba community.

Marketing Jargon -Definitions
●Link Clicks: The aggregate total of all of the clicks on an advertisement.
●Impression: Impressions are the number of times your content is displayed. For example: in Facebook,
impressions are the number of times someone sees your social update in their newsfeed. Impressions are a
key metric for measuring campaign success in digital marketing campaigns.
●Avg Frequency: The average number of times the advertisement will be presented to the Reached Population.
●Total Reach: The total number of people to see the advertisement or content.
●CTR:Click Through Rate—Shows how many times an ad was clicked on by users.
●CPC:Cost per Click—The amount we, the advertiser, pays every time someone clicks on an ad.
●CPM:Cost per Thousand Impressions—a measurement of how much money it costs you to reach 1,000
readers, viewers, visitors or listeners.
The terms can be confusing, but it all boils down to what people see and how much it costs your
organization. In general, we strive for high clicks, high impressions, low CPC’s and low CPM’s.
