SCAVENGER
HUNT
A VAIL LEGACY PROJECT
WINTER 2020/21
OVERVIEW
Vail is a world -class Snowsports destination with a rich history as a true ski town. Each winter, over 650,000
visitors come to enjoy this outdoor playground that we are lucky to call home.
In light of the current pandemic, this year brings additional precautions and restrictions that visitors may have
not experienced in years past. Now more than ever we want to provide options for our guest that will allow
them to spend time together as a family while abiding by the ever-changing regulations.
With this in mind, the Vail Virtual Scavenger Hunt was born. Led by the Colorado Snowsports Museum, this
scavenger hunt will be available, free of charge, all winter season. All you need is a phone, and you’re off! The
activation will consist of 10-12 unique challenges rooted in Vails history. Those who complete all the challenges
will be awarded with a limited-edition Vail poster from the Snowsports Museum.
This app will go live on December 15th in honor of Vails first opening day in 1962.
CUSTOMIZED
PHONE APP
The application is free for guest use and
compatible with both android and iOS
platforms.
We will utilize a variety of different
challenge types including:trivia, video
clips, audio clips, photo elements, direct
check-ins, timed challenges, QR scans and
more. This will enlighten guests with
custom Vail historical details, 10th
Mountain Division information, our
founding fathers, local landmarks and a
little bit of current Vail trivia. We want to
celebrate our strong roots while unifying
the next generation and future of Vail
guests.

MARKETING
Locally we will look to utilize a
combination of social media, community
calendars, print ads, local merchants and
guerilla marketing initiatives to get the
word out about this program.
We will also look to partner with the
Town of Vail and Vail Mountain to align
with each entity and broaden the reach
of this safe and family-fun activation in a
year when we could all use a little more!
