BUILDING PERMIT ISSUANCE TIME FRAME
If this permit requires a Town of Vail Fire Department Approval, Engineer's (Public Works)
review and approval, a Planning Department review or Health Department review, and a review
by the Building Department, the estimated time for a total review will take as long as three (3)
weeks.
All commercial (large or small) and all multi-family permits will have to follow the above
mentioned maximum requirements. Residential and small projects should take a lesser amount
of time. However, if residential or smaller projects impact the various above mentioned
departments with regard to necessary review, these projects may also take three (3) weeks to
review and approve.
Every attempt will be made by this department to expedite this permit as soon as possible.
I, the undersigned, understand the plan check procedure and time frame. I also understand
that if the permit is not picked up by the expiration date, that I must still pay the plan check fee
and that if I fail to do so it may affect future permits that I apply for.

At your requost, Foothills EnvironmenJal collect€d asbestos bulk samples of suspect
materials at 174 Gore Creek Dr. units 527 & 529, in VaiL Colorado. [n particular,
homogcncous sarnples werp colleqted of previously impacted susp€st materials. Thcsc
suspect materials were cut and removed from several areas of the condominium to
facilitate renovation activities. Ivfr. Lyle Ardourel, o" asbestos inspcctor certified by the
Colorado Dcparkncnt of Public Hcalth & Environmcnt conductcd thc asbcstos
inspection. Reservoirs Environrnental, an independent laboratory acaedited bythe
National Voluntary Accreditation Program (NVLAP) and the American Industrid
Hygienc Association (AIHA) analyzod thc samplcs utilizing Polarizcd Light Microscopy
(PLM).
The bulk sampling of suspect building materials was oonduoted to identiff any Asbestos
Containing Material (AChO in the condominium. The Environmental Protection
Agency (EPA) definesACM as amaterial contairing grcaterthan I 7o asbestos.
Random bulk samples were collected according to the guidelines published as tlte
Environmentat Protection Agency's Final Rule: Tifle II of thc Toxic Substanccs Control
Act (TSCA), 15 USC, Sestions 2641 throgh 2654 aud in compliance with ztO CFR, Part
?63 and the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPI{E)

and are considered asbestos-free.o The non-friable textured wall coatings located onthe walls ofthe Laundry Room
and the 2nd floor South Bedroom contains asbestos.
The texhred wall coatings ars considqed asbcstos containing surfacing material by the
Colorado Departrnent of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) Regulation #8'
Asbestos. The amount oftoctwed wall coatings disturbed (removed) however is less than
t}e asbestos spill trigger levcls of 32 square feet.
RECOMMENDED ACTI()NS
The CDPTIE Regulotion #8, Asbestos III.T.2, Minor Asbestos Spills, outlines the non-
mandafory steps following actions by the owner or contrastor in the event of an asbestos
spill less than the trigger level of 32 square ftet. In part the regulation reads:

Designer Review Board-
Alterations include:
'The installation of a bay window in the upper bedroom window current location. This
unit is obscured by the International Wing. Impact is negligible. One iszue may be the
finished material or color of the bump out for the bay window.
Additional window above balcony door. This window would be an enhancement to the
condominium and have no impact on the exterior appearance of the building or adjacent
homeowners. Our one recommendation would be to have the window pane size match
the surrounding window pane sizes. It is drawn to have larger panes.
Changing the balcony door location. No impact on exterior aPp€arance or adjacent
homeowners."

At your requesq Foothills Environrnerrtal colles-ted asbestos bulk samples of suspectmaterials at 174 Gore creek Dr. rmits 527 & szg, in vail, colorado. to p"rtic"ti",
bomogeneous samples were coltected of previously impaoted suspect materials. These
suspect materials were cut and removed frorn several areas of ttre condominium tof*ilitate renovdion activities. Mr- Lyle Ardourel, aa asb€stos inspector certified by thecolorado Departm€Nft of Publio Health & Environmont condusted the asbestosinspection. Reservoirs Environmental, an independent laboratory accredited by theNational Voluntary Accreditation hogran (NVLAP) and the American fndujtrialHygiene Association (AIHA) analyzed the smrples utilizi4g Polarized Light Microscopy(PLM).
The bulk sampling of suspect building nraferials was conducted to identiry any Asbestos
Containing Mdedal (ACN4 in the condominiurn. The Envirronmental ProtectionAgency @PA) defines ACM as a material Gontaining greater than I zo asbestos.
Ranlom bulk samples were oollected according to the guidelines published as the
Envirorunental Protection Ageocy's Final Rule: Title tr of the Toxic Substances Control
Act (TscA), l5 usc, sections 2641 thoryh 2654 and in compliance with 40 cFR. part
