The Association has consented to the installation of skytights into the roof above Unit 5G being provided they meet all Town of Vail codes, rules, regulation that may apply and performed in accordance with the Drawings, Sheets and other documents described above. The Board of Directors of the Association would appreciate it if the town would advise the Manager for the Association, Slifer Management Company, and provide copy of the Building Permit when it has been issued. Theaxial load of ttre load-bearing masonry walls will increase a maxj-mum of 660 pounds per lineat foot (pU). The existingload-bearing masonry wall conmon with the west unit supportsl-4,L00 plf on a z'-LOt wide footing. The existing load-bearing wall on the east side of the unit supports B,2oo plfon a l.'-Lorr wide footing. The proposed addition will increasethe existing axial loads on the masonry walls 52 for theconmon wall and 88 for the exterior waII. The existing load-bearing masonry walls all have additionalcapacity for the proposed addition. The existing footingsbeneath the conmon load-bearing masonry wall will beoverstressed approximateJ-y 48 based upon the'maximum soilsbearing capacity of 5000 psf. However, this case of localizedoverstressing is not a problem, because, the common wall issupported at both ends by oversized footings for a non-bearingperpendicular wall and the fireplaces. The existing 8rr bond beams previously nentioned will transfer the excessive loadingto the understressed footings at each end of the load-bearingmasonry wall, preventing localized differential settlement. The existing footings beneath the east load-bearing exteriormasonry waII are oversized for the existing toadingconditions, and can easily accommodate the new additionalloading conditions. Note that the previously rnentioned soils report approves theuse of 5OO0 psf as the maximum soils bearing capacity. Thesoils nay have an even greater capacity even though they havenot been approved as such. The soils that were inspected, areIocated beneath the elevator for Building c. Soils adjoiningcreeks or rivers in this area typically are some of the bestsoj.ls for supporting buildings. The soils that are beingIoaded by the proposed addition are located closer to coreCreek than the previously inspected soils, increasing theprobability of greater soils bearing capacity than 5000 psf. Contracto/s Signature PUBLIC WORKS PERMIT PROCESS How it relates to Building Permits: 1) Fillout our check list provided with a buildino oermit aoolication.lf yes was answered to any of the above questions then a "public Way" is required. You can pick up an application at either community Development, located at 75 S. Frontage Road or Public Works, located at 1309 Vail Valley Drive. 2') Notice sign offs for utility companies. All utilities must field verify (tocate) respective utilities prior to signing application. Some utility companies require up to a 48 hour notice to schedule a locate. 3) A construction traffic control/staging plan must be prepared on a separate sheet of paper.An approved site plan may also be used. This plan will show locations of all traffic control devices(signs, cones, etc..) and the work zone, (area of construction, staging, etc..). This plan will expire on oct. 1sth. and will need to be resubmitted for approval through the winter. 4) Sketch of work being performed must be submitted indicating dimensions (length, width & depth of work). This may be drawn on the traffic control plan or a iite plan for the job. 5) Submit completed application to the Public Works's office for review. lf required, locates will be scheduled for the Town of Vail Electricians and lrrigation crew. The locates take place in the morning but, may require up to 4g hours to perform. 6) The Public Work's Construction Inspector will review the application and approve or disapprove the permit. You will be contacted as to the status and any that may needed. Most permits are released within 48 hours of being received, but please allow up to one week to process. 7) As soon as the permit is processed, a copy will be faxed to community Development allowing the "Building Permit" to be released. Please do not confuse the "Public Way Permit" with a "Building Permit" to do work on a project itself.
