A. Unlawful deposits: Sublect to subsection C thereofl it is unla*firl for any person to litter,
track or deposit, or cause to be littered, tracked or deposited" sand, gravel, rocks, mu4 dirt
snow, ice, or any otlter debris or material upon ary streeq sidewalk, alley or public place, or
any portion thereof.
B. Noficel Abatement: The Director of Public Works may notify and require any person who
violates or causes another to violate the provision of subscction A hereof, or who has in the
Director's employmont a person who violates or qruses another to violate the same, top
remove such sand, gravel, rocks. mud, dirt, snow, ico or any other dcbris or material within
twenty four (24) hours after receipt of said notice by the Direstor of Public Works. In the
event the person so notified does not comply with the notice within the period of time herein
specified, the Director of Public Works, or other authorized agen! may cause any such sand,
gravel- rocks, mud, drt snow, ice, debris or any other material to be removed from any street
or alley atthe experuie of the notified.
C. Exceptions: The provisions of subsection A hereof shall not be applicable:
1. Within the immediate area of any construction, maintenance or repair project of any
street or alley or of any water main. sewer main, electricity lin€, gas fap,lelephone line
or any apputeruurce thereto;2. To deposits of sand. dirt or materials necessarv for the protection ofthe public safe6r: and
3. To public areas designated for the dumping or depositing of said materials.
D. Summons; Penalty: As an altcrnative to the notice for remptal provided in srbsection B
above, any
person who violates or causes another to violate the same, may be issued a summons to
appear before the Municipal Court of the Town for said violations, and upon being found
guilty ofa violation hereundcr be punished as provided in Section l-4-l of this code.
E. Noticc; Penalty: It is unlawtrl for any person to fail or refusc to comply with the notice of
the
Dircctor of Public Works as provided in subsection B hereoi and any such person shall, in
addition to palment of the expcnse of removal incurred by the Director of Public Works, as
provided in subsection B hereof. upon being found guilty ofa violation hereundcr, bc
punishableas provided in Scction l-4-l ofthis Code. (1997 Code: Ordinance 6 (1979)

If this permit requires a Town of Vail Fire Department Approval. Engineer's (Public Works)
review and approval, a Planning Departrnent review of Health Departmcnt review, and a review
by the Building Deparftnent, the estimated time for a total review may takc as long as three (3)
wgeks.
All commercial (large or small) and all multi-family permits will have to follow the above
mentioned maximum requirements- Residential and small projects shouid take a lesser amount of
time . However, if residential or smaller projects impact the various above mentioned
departments with regard to necessary review, these projects may also take the three (3) week
period.
Every attempt will be made by this departrnent to cxpedite this permit as soon as possible.

PUBLIC WORKS PERXIIT PROCESS
How it relates to Buildine Permits
Fill out our check list provided with a Building Permit Application.
If yes was answered to any ofthe questions then a "Public Way'' is required. You
can pick up an application at either Community Development, located at 75 South
Frontage Road or Public Works, located at 1309 Vail Valley Drive.
Notice sign offs for utility companies. All utilities must field verify (locate)
respective utilities prior to signing application. Some utility companies require up
to 48 hours notice to schedule a locate.
A construction traffrc control/staging plan must be prepared on a separate sheet of
paper. An approved site plan may also be used, This plan will show locations of
all trafiic control devices (signs, cones, etc.) and the work zone, (area of
Construction, Staging, etc.). This plan will expire on November lst and will need
to be resubmitted for approval through the winter.
Sketch of work being performed must be submitted indicating dimensions (length,
width and depth of work). This may be drawn on the traffrc control plan or a site
plan for the job.
Submit completed application to the Public Work's o{fice for review. If required,
locates will be scheduled for the Town of Vail Electricians and Irrigation crew.
The locates take place in the morning, but may require up to 48 hours to perform.
The Public Work's Construction Inspector will review the application and
approve or disapprove the permit. You will be contacted as to the status and any
requirements that may be needed. Most permits are released within 48 hours of
being received, but please allow up to one (1) week to process.
As soon as tlle permit is processed, a copy will be faxed to Community
Development allowing the "Building Permit" to be released. Please do not
confuse the "Public Way Permit" with a "Building Permit" which is to do work
on a project itself.
NOTE:
The above process is for work in a public way ONLY.
Public Way Permits are vaiid only until November 15s.
A new Public Way Permit is required each year if work is not complete.

CENERAL INFORMATION
The review process for new construction normally requires two separate meetings of the Desigt Review
Board; a conceptual approval and a final approval. Applicanls should plan on'prcsenting their dcvelopment
proposal at a minimum of two meetings before obtaining final approval,
I. SUBMITTAL REOUIREMENTS
A prelirninary title report, including Schedules A and B, to vcrify ownerships and cascmcnts.
Photos of the existing site and adjaccnt structures, where applicable.
Condominium Association approval, if applicable.
Thrcc (3) copics of thc following:
Topographic survey. stampcd by a licensed survcyor, at a scale of l" = 20'or largcr, on which the
following infonnation is provided:
O Tics to existing benchmark, cithcr USGS landmark oi' sewer invert. This information must
bc clearly statcd on thc survcy so that all mcasuremcnts are bascd on thc sanrc

Dcpartment will schedule a frarning inspection, two copies of an lmprovement Location Certificate
survcy (lLC) stampcd by a rcgistcred professional engincer must bc submitted. The following
information must be provided on the ILC:

C. Building location(s) with ties to properly comers (i.e. distances and angles).
