Shakedown Presents Summer 2021 RecapEvent Recap: Shakedown Presents Pop-Up Music Cultural, Recreational & Community Category 12/1/21 CSE Meeting Ambient Music: 6/9 –10/31/2021 Bryce Bastolich Scott Rednor Phone: 612-759-0482 shakedownbarvail@gmail.com 2 Overall Event Highlights & Successes 3 •List the top 4-6 successes you want to share with the CSE •Activating sales of local businesses during slower months •Enhancing our vibrant villages with live music •Bringing our local and tourist communities together •Promotion of the Town of Vail and local businesses •Received front page exposure from the Vail Daily •Increased attendance from last year COVID-19 Impacts 4 •Describe the changes made to the event due to the COVID-19 pandemic. As restrictions were lifted this spring, we were very excited to see more people coming to our shows. Neighboring restaurants and businesses were busy and people were elated to be able to enjoy live music in Vail. With our concerts held in open spaces, people were able to keep socially distant and this created a safe and fun atmosphere for all. •What learnings from COVID-19 do you foresee rolling forward into future events. People are more aware of their surroundings and other people around them. With our open-air events, attendees can chose their personal level of safety when it comes to COVID. They can have the freedom to dance with others or be in their own space. •What were the biggest challenges cause by the COVID-19 pandemic. Monitoring of social distancing, as people have different personal views of the pandemic in general. Our set up was the same at every event and overall, we encountered no issues with our attendees. Estimated Attendance Results 5 •Estimated attendance: •If non-ticketed event, what method did you use to estimate attendees: Counting the average number of people per show, based on static crowd estimates and passers-by. •Number/percentage of people who came specifically for event: Approximately 40% •Number/percentage of people who attended the event last year: Approximately 30% Estimated Attendee Profile Results 6 •Attendees came from (local, regional, out of state, international): We have a large variety of people from all walks of life. Our local Vail Valley residents attend numerous shows and follow us on social media to see when and where we will be playing next. We also have loyal groups of fans from the Front Range and further that know us from Shakedown Bar. Many annual visitors are very excited to see our family-friendly Pop-Up shows becoming a Vail staple. Out-of-state and international visitors are pleasantly surprised when they see our concerts. The welcoming and fun atmosphere that’s created at our shows brings people together from all ages and all cultures to enjoy live music in the Town of Vail. Event Strengths & Weaknesses 9 •How did the event exceed expectations? With restrictions lifted, seeing restaurants with full patios and busy shops around our concerts brought great energy to our events. •What are areas for event improvement? Being able to broaden the possible locations for our shows to maximize the benefits for local businesses throughout Vail. •How did this year’s event compare to last year? With COVID restrictions lifted in the spring, it was a much more relaxed environment. Families were able to meet, dance, and interact with each other. We experienced an obvious increase in attendance from last year. Vail Brand Compatibility The Premier International Mountain Resort Community 10 •How did the event /program support the Vail Brand? By providing the highest level of entertainment around, right in the heart of Vail. Our roster of musicians and song choices appeal to multiple generations and is truly a unique experience that you can’t find anywhere else. Our concerts represent entertainment that the whole family can enjoy –grand babies to grandma and grandpa regularly dance with us in Vail. Brand Positioning: •Town of Vail: The Premier International Mountain Resort Community •Vail Mountain: Like nothing on earth Community Contribution 11 •How did the event impact Vail’s sense of community? All of our musicians are long-time locals of the Vail Valley or the Front Range, who love Vail. Our artists live in and promote our local community, mountains, and businesses. Many of our friends are local business owners and their success is our events’ success. We are a small community that sticks together and there is nothing better to bring people together than live music. Topline Marketing Efforts 12 •What are the top 3 successful marketing tactics, executions or results from your event/program? Word -of-mouth from local businesses at all locations we play. A-Frame signage promoting the summer-long concert series. Social media posts leading up to and during the events that tag Discover Vail, checks in at “Vail, Colorado” and tags all performing artists. Shakedown Presents deep roster of artists represents a wide variety of music genres and each artist has his/her own following that sees what we’re doing her within the Town of Vail. Potential for Growth & Sponsorships/Media Exposure 13 •How do you see the event evolving next year? We have invested in more video production gear. We would like to evolve our events by incorporating a streaming experience for those family members and friends around the world who are not able to attend our shows nor visit Vail. We hope to livestream our events on DiscoverVail.com and social media channels to drive online traffic. •What sponsors do you plan to target next year? Local restaurants, retailers and lodging partners that can offer sponsorships surrounding our concerts will help with more exposure to discovervail.com. How will you leverage media exposure and extend the marketing reach next year? With livestreaming on websites and social media channels, we want to drive direct traffic to discovervail.com. Promotions for Town of Vail, businesses, and sponsorship ads could bring sponsorship dollars/revenue in the door. Sustainability Efforts 14 •What measures were taken at your event/program to support the environmentally-friendly goals of the Town of Vail? All Town of Vail facilities and waste management practices were utilized during our performances. After every show, we do a sweep and micro clean of the surrounding area and appropriately recycle or dispose of anything found onsite. •What waste reduction methods were used during your event/program? Our event does not serve food or beverages. We make sure the area is clean prior and after our event. •How could you improve on sustainability efforts for next year’s event? If the Town of Vail has a program that needs to be promoted we could use our event platform to promote the program. All Town of Vail waste protocols are currently used. The Town of Vail is committed to the stewardship and protection of our unique mountain environment. In consideration of both our local and global impacts and opportunities, our environmental vision is to demonstrate and promote: renewable energy, resource efficiency, ecosystem protection, and community awareness and education. To all the participant’s including Scott Rednor, Michael Jude, Jon Michel, Rob Eaton Sr. and Jr., Kory Montgomery, and the crew from Shakedown Bar, we all are grateful over here in Lionshead for such a great summer. From the outstanding quality of the music to seeing smiling faces out in the mall again we would like to say thanks again to the TOV for putting on such a great summer/fall series. This town has some world class musicians that are very happy to entertain and play for us locals in this awesome Vail Valley!! KUDOS TOV!! Let’s keep the concert series rolling every year!
