Overall Event Highlights & Successes 3 •Excellent Crowd participation •Weather was very good for all parades which helped with attendance. •The Snowsports Museum benefited greatly from each of the parades by increasing their traffic substantially. Win/Win •Low impact on the Town facilities and staff. Estimated Attendee Profile Results 4 We had Guests from many different states and from various countries attend this years parades. We actually had Guests fly to Vail specifically for the parades because of family members who were in the 10th in WW II. Event Strengths & Weaknesses 5 •How did the event exceed expectations?-We had 34 10th Mtn soldiers from Fort Drum, NY here for Legacy Weekend marching in the parade. Each parade was VERY busy with Guests from around the world. •We handed out 5000 10th Mtn pins to Guests over the winter. How did this year’s event compare to previous years?-We were extremely organized and actually had more fireworks per show which thrilled our Guests. Vail Brand Compatibility The Premier International Mountain Resort Community 6 •We had Guests participate in the ski down and the parade Brand Positioning: •Town of Vail: The Premier International Mountain Resort Community •Vail Mountain: Like nothing on earth Community Contribution 7 This parade drew both Guests and Locals alike to remember the impact the 10th Mountain Division has had on not only Vail Mountain but the entire ski industry. It was also a great educational piece for the local kids in the valley. We had hundreds of Guests march with the parade down Bridge Street to the 10th Mtn Statue where there could get pictures taken with the Soldiers. These photos could be downloaded for free for any Guest. Excellent Marketing of the Town. Potential for Growth & Sponsorships/Media Exposure 8 •We would like to move to 3 parades next season, to build on the parades, expanding the impact of the parades on the Guest visiting Vail. •Also, we’d like to get more national media involved next season to show Vail’s deep connection to the 10th Mtn Division and the current 10th. •Would like to expand into getting the schools more involved, using the parades as a learning and education piece. Partnerships and Collaboration 9 •There is a special partnership between the Town of Vail, the Colorado Snowsports Museum and Vail Mountain for this particular event. •These Parades also bring in other outside groups who want to be a part of the parades. 10th Mtn Foundation, 10th Mtn Division Descendants Assoc. and various other potential sponsors. •We had participation from the 157th Colorado National Guard, 10th Special Forces Group, 19th Special Forces, 4th Infantry Division from Fort Carson and the Slovenian Special Forces in this years Legacy weekend and parade.
