When the lower two corbels were eliminated from the east elevation it no longer made
sense to leave the two mid span corbels because it would not leave a typical or authentic
arrangement of corbels. Typical arrangements include one single corbel at the ridge, or
one at the ridge and two at the eaves with mid span corbels if there is enough span.
Leaving the mid span corbels without two at the eaves would be awkward. Leaving
only one at the ridge by itself is a typical arrangement.
