Review and acceptance of
meeting minutes of Thursday, January 8th, 2009
Minutes were reviewed by board members. Rollie Kjesbo motioned to accept minutes with Tom Dubois seconded. Minutes unanimously accepted.
Review of progress of agenda items discussed at January 8th meeting
The building official shall solicit for technical advisory committee members the first week in March in order to
have members in place by April
The review of the contractors licensing will be part of a Design Review Process Committee that is underway to streamline the town’s internal processes.
Once
this process has been completed the item shall be brought before the board for review.
The review of the LEED program as it relates to our current regulations is ongoing and near completion
by staff. ICC is publishing a green code that may meet our needs rather than having to create our own. The building official will order a copy for review by the energy code committee.
The special inspection program is near completion. Martin Haeberle stated it has taken longer than expected to prepare. The building teams’ goal is to have a final draft for the boards
review at the next board meeting.
Proposed adoption of the International Property Maintenance Code
Martin Haeberle explained that when the I codes were adopted the town did not adopt
the Property Maintenance code nor kept the Uniform Abatement Code. This has left a hole in the ability of the town to effectively regulate abatement of buildings, attractive nuisances,
and abatement of services such as electrical services. Currently the town is utilizing the fire code per Mike McGee but should be under the purview of the building codes so that appropriate
follow-up by the building codes can be done.
Further, the town attorney has recommended that adoption of an abatement code be made. Martin Haeberle explained, it is an administrative
code with punitive action that the board should review this outside the scope of the process of adoption of the 2009 I codes.
Board members asked that copies of the abatement codes
be made available for their review. The building official shall make them available at the next meeting
Items for the March 12th , 2009 meeting
Chairwoman Fritzlen requested that commissioning
of buildings be placed on next months agenda for discussion.
