Dear Property Owner(s),
A review of the Town of Vail Community Development files indicates that the permit listed above does
not show a record of any work performed in the last 180 days. The permit must show work
progressing within a 180 day period (an approved inspection must be completed) or an extension
must be applied for per the 2009 International Building Code, section 105.5. The last approved
inspection received on this permit was on November 16, 2005 and we do not show any record of an
extension request. Further, there are mechanical and fire alarm permits associated with this project
that have never received an approved final inspection. Please contact Mike Vaughan, Fire Marsha/l,
for instructions on how to address the fire alarm permit (A05-0047) at (970) 479-2252.
While contractors typically submit permit applications, property owners are ultimately responsible for
the permits on their property per the 2009 International Building Code, section 105.1.
I encourage you to call for a final inspection so we may close this permit out and ensure all life safety
components have been completed. Please contact us within 30 days as of the date of this letter to
schedule this inspection.
If we do not hear from you within 30 days, we will expire this permit. That means any future work you
are considering could not be applied for or approved until this expired permit is resolved. Further, it
may affect any future property sales should the prospective buyers research our records in
Community Development for this property before purchase. As you can see, it is desirabfe to finalize
the permit now so your property records with the Town of Vail are free of this outstanding issue and to
ensure life safety for the inhabitants.

Architectural Comments:
1 Please include all civil site plans sheets in the plan sets.
2 The building allowable area is using the fire sprinkler increase per IBC 506.3. This requires the
building be sprinkled throughout. NFPA 13 requires protection for combustible roof overhangs over 4'
in depth. Fire sprinkler protection is also required for the loading dock roof cover area. Please
coordinate with the fire protection plans and VFES.
3 The exterior landing at D023 does not comply with ANSI 117.1 1998. Please include a plan to show
an accessible entrance for the office portion of the building.
4 Amend site plan A1.1 to show accessible parking signage and striping per ANSI 117.1 1998. The
existing parking spaces are not paved. Please show paving at required accessible parking and
loading areas with path of travel to the new ramp.
5 Amend site plan A1.1 to show accessible parking signage and striping per ANSI 117.1 1998 for the
parking area adjacent to the office area of the building. Show accessible path of travel to the office
entry door.
6 Amend A2.1 and 3/A8.1 to show stairway handrail extensions per ANSI 117.1 1998 figure 505.10.

5. Glazing in doors and enclosures for hot tubs, whirlpools, saunas,
steam rooms, bathtubs and showers. Glazing in any portion of a
building wall enclosing these compartments where the bottom exposed
edge of the glazing is less than 60 inches above a standing surface.
6 . Glazing in fixed or operable panels adjacent to a door where the
nearest exposed edge of the glazing is within a 24-inch arc of
either vertical edge of the door in a closed position and where the
bottom exposed edge of the glazing is less than 60 inches above the
walking surface.
Exception: Panels where there is an intervening wall or other
permanent barrier between the door and glazing.
7. Glazing in an individual fixed or operable panel, other than those
locations described in items 5 and 6 above, than meets all of the
following conditions:
7.1 Exposed area of an individual pane greater than 9 square feet.
7.2 Exposed bottom edge less than 18 inches above the floor.
7.3 Exposed top edge greater than 36 inches above the floor.
7.4 One or more walking surfaces within 36 inches horizontally of
the plane of the glazing.

8. Glazing in guards and railings regardless of the area or height
above a walking surface.
9. Glazing in walls and fences enclosing indoor and outdoor swimming
pools, hot tubs and spas where all of the following are present:
9.1 The bottom edges of the glazing on the pool or spa side is
less than 60 inches above the walking surface.
9.2 The glazing is within 60 inches of the water's edge.
10. Glazing adjacent to stairways, landings and ramps within 36 inches
horizontally of a walking surface when the glass is less than 60
inches above the plane of the walking surface.
11. Glazing adjacent to stairways within 60 inches horizontally of the
bottom tread of a stairway in any direction when the exposed glass
is less than 60 inches above the nose of the tread.

Architectural Comments:
1. The civil plans have now been included into the plan sets. These drawings should only be
used for reference purposes since the work shown is to be covered under a difFerent permit.
That drawing package is to be submitted the week of April 4'h under the name 'lionshead
redevelopment - holy cross/maintenance site'.
2. The fire protection drawings have been updated. There are existing fire sprinklers at the
overhang over the loading dock that were not included on the.existing fire protection
drawings which adequately protect that area.
3. The exterior landing at door D023 and the adjacent asphalt paving has been revised to
comply with ANSI 117.1-1998. Refer to sheet Al.l .
4. Notes requiring accessible signage and parking striping have been added to sheet A1.1.
The accessible parking areas are to be paved based on the scope of work as indicated by the
civil drawings which will be covered under a difFerent permit.
5. Notes requiring accessible signage and parking striping have been added to sheet Al.l.
The entry area to the building has also been revised to comply with ANSI 117.1-1998.
6. The handrail extensions have been revised per ANSI 117.1 1998 on sheet A2.1 and
3/A8.1.
7. The approach depth to door D007 has been revised to 60" in depth per ANSI 117.1 1998
on sheet A2.1 and the enlarged plan on sheet A7.1.
