Monday, November 6, 2023

3.1. Approval of October 2, 2023 minutes.

3.2 Review of Artist in Residency (AIR) consulting services, Nine Dot Arts – Mary Gangel
• Nine Dot Arts (who presented for the consulting services for the AIPP Strategic Plan RFP) is in
dialogue about additional services/addendum focusing on the AIR.
• The Board discusses Nine Dot Arts and their expertise as related to other residencies.
• The Board examines the important points as presented by Nine Dot Arts to focus upon as we enter
fundraising initiatives including - goals, visioning session (in person and virtual – 2 hour), preference
surveys around programming, and an outline for a stronghold statement.
• Once the framework is established, a general calendar and detailed budget will be built out.
• Courtney confirms the deliverables from Nine Dot Arts - which would be the roadmap report compiling
information into a cohesive document, programing typology, calendar, and detailed budgeting within the
calendar based upon programming. It would be a high-level bespoke report and identity as a sellable
fundraising initiative for the AIR.
• The Board motions to enter into an agreement with Nine Dot Arts regarding their proposed consulting
deliverables for the AIR program plan addendum.
3.3. Review of proposed 17th Annual Vail Winterfest ice and light installation by Alpine Ice,
Paul Wertin and Jake Proffit.
• Three concepts for the Winterfest were presented at the October 2 meeting.
• Installation to begin January 2 and completed by January 9, 2024.
• The Board further reviews the preferred “profiles” concept with Alpine ice including - layout, scale,
orientation.
• The Board motions to enter into an agreement with Alpine Ice for the 17th Annual vail Winterfest as
proposed at today’s meeting.
• The Board would like to move forward with an opening reception celebration this season.
3.4. Artist in Residency (AIR) update including proposed summer activations.
• The Design Review Board unanimously approved the AIR studio design and presentation by Harry
Teague at their October 4, 2023 meeting.
• The existing structure is scheduled for demolition in the coming weeks.

• The architects are completing the construction documents necessary for administering a bid for a
Spring construction date.
4. Coordinator Updates.
• AIPP agenda items for Council meeting November 7: Formally adopt by resolution the 5-year AIPP
Strategic Plan; Award of contract for sculpture commission with artist Squire Broel.
• Preliminary discussion of summer murals. Molly will inquire with VVF if they are interested in
sponsoring another mural in partnership with GoPro.
• Dec. 4 meeting: Dobson Ice Arena architect will present plans and possible site locations within the
project for public art.
• Molly and Courtney’s recent visit to Denver to view exhibitions at Denver Botanic Gardens, Center for
Visual Arts, and Red Line Contemporary.
• CU – College Media Communications Information capstone class presentations are in Boulder on
November 8th. Molly and Jenifer Marx will be present.
