11 -7 -07 DRB Hearing
The following are the previous comments of the Design Review Board, regarding the proposal.
• Some members were concerned with the 4 beam column look vs. the single large beam look.
Others liked the 4 beam column look.
• Something is missing "not rich enough"
• Concerned with the deep chocolate color. Appears foreboding.
• Concern that the smooth stone may be too much.
• Suggested an environmental statement could be made. Suggested solar.
Staff recommends that the DRB tables this application to a future meeting in order to allow the
architects time to address the Comments of Staff and Jeff Winston provided in the letter dated October
6, 2007. Furthermore a tabling would allow the applicant time to revise the landscaping plan to provide
for larger landscaping at installation.
Should the DRB choose to approve this application staff recommends the following findings be made:
Pursuant to Chapter 12 -11, Design Review, Vail Town Code, the applicant has proven by a
preponderance of the evidence before the Design Review Board that the proposed major
exterior alteration is consistent with applicable elements of the Lionshead Redevelopment
Master Plan and that the proposal does not otherwise have a significant negative effect on
the character of the neighborhood, and that the proposal substantially complies with other
applicable elements of the Vail Comprehensive Plan. "
If the DRB chooses to approved this application staff recommends the following. conditions be placed

General Information:
All projects requiring design review must receive approval prior to submitting a building permit application. Please
refer to the submittal requirements for the particular approval that is requested. An application for Design Review
cannot be accepted until all required information is received by the Community Development Department. The
project may also need to be reviewed by the Town Council and /or the Planning and Environmental Commission.
Design review approval lapses unless a building permit is issued and construction commences within
