Box 2992 Avon, CO 81620 L-d P INCA oA .n .nn " . .ALPINE DESIGN &HORTxcux.TURAj- SERVICES INC. PO Box 2992 Town of Vail Avon, CO 81620 Building Department 75 S. Frontage Road Vail, CO. 81657 I have been asked by the Rams-Horn Lodge Condominium Association to review the impact of construction on two existing aspen trees (Populus Tremuloides) and two Colorado spruce trees (Picea Pungens) located on the south west side of the property as well as a clump of aspen (Pop.-Tre.) on the northwest side of the property. The trees are highlighted on the attached landscape plan. Tree #1 is an aspen tree (Pop--Tre.). It is my understanding that the tree is located in an area the town has identified as a site corridor and has requested that no vegetation greater than 3' in height be located in this area. Given the Town's position and the species of the tree, my recommendation is that it be removed. Trees 2 and 3 are Colorado spruce (Picea Pungens) and tree 4 is an aspen (Pop.-Tre.) All of these trees are currently located in close proximity to the location where a new storm sewer line and 12',deep vault are to be installed to accept the line. Digging to the extent necessary in this proximity will severely damage the root systems. It is possible they could survive a short period of time but would need replacing. It is my recommendation that the threes be removed now and the Association plant replacement vegetation taking into account the site triangle. The clump of #4-48 aspen (Pop.-Tre.) on the northeast portion of the property will also undergo severe root damage and will likely not survive the impact of construction. It is my understanding that the storm sewer line and area well are in tight proximity of these trees. My recommendation is to remove the trees now and ask the Association to plant replacement vegetation elsewhere on the property. If you have any questions regarding my analysis of the situation, I can be reached at (970) 376-2928. Kurt Kincel ISA Certified Arborist 26430 Att. ~d
