As we talked about yesterday, with the drawings I submitted, what we are asking for from the Town at this time with our submittal is for approval of the window and door configuration and mullion changes; and the fireplace flue changes. We will submit another application for the landscape and site changes at a future time. I appreciate your prompt attention to this. As per our discussion yesterday, we are happy to make the Town's approval contingent on receiving approval of the Homeowner's Board at Casolar. Aasland, Architect, P.C. 6/19/2008 Casolar Del Norte Home Owners Association RE: Pierce Remodel Parcels 14a and 14b, Casolar Vail II In 2007 we received approval from both the Casolar Del Norte Home Owners Association (HOA) and Town of Vail for the construction of the Pierce remodel in Casolar. Since that time the owners have been diligent in proceeding with the construction of the project using the plans on record as approved by the Association and the Town of Vail. In the course of the project we have seen the opportunity to improve certain items as the project has progressed. The remodel has been a complex project. Specific rules of the town and Home Owners Association have heavily influenced the plans. Throughout the project, and with this request, the home has consistently retained the same GRFA and site coverage. With this request the mass and bulk of the home remains the same (with the one trade off that the footprint of a small area is reduced by 2" and the square footage is moved from that area to accommodate area for fireplace chimneys). This request also reduces area of a deck which we previously identified to the HOA. The deck request does not affect site coverage as defined by the HOA or town of Vail. The underlying desire of this request is not to reduce costs nor increase living space or mass, rather to make a more refined project for both the Pierces and the neighborhood. This request adds stone, window mullions and plantings to the project. This request changes the Landscape plan from one designed by Galen A. Aasland Architect, P.C. to one designed by Brooks Design. The Brooks Design landscape plan addresses several items the HOA requested. It adds bushes between the Rayner and Pierce homes, as well as adding bushes between the Friedman, Pringle, and Pierce homes. Our request is as follows. Drawings showing the requested changes, and a copy of the landscape plan, are included with this letter. Landscape/site plans. 1.) Replace the Landscape plan from one designed by Galen A. Aasland Architect, P.C. to one designed by Brooks Design. 2.) Add pavers or cobbles in front of the Pierce Entry door. 3.) Add an approximately 6' long x 3 '/2' tall stone site wall adjacent to the Pierce front door. Option for a small decorative panel 18 "square +/- in the stone. 4.)
