General Information:
This application is required for all proposals involving minor changes to buil t�o�tWnts�s4c as re-
roofing, painting, window additions, landscaping, fences, retaining walls, etc. Applicable Vail Secti can be
reviewed on -line at www.vailgov.com under Vail Information - Town Code On -line. All projects requiring design review
must receive approval prior to submitting a building permit application. An application for Design Review cannot be
accepted until all required information is received by the Community Development Department, as outlined in the submittal
requirements. Design review approval expires one year from the date of approval, unless a building permit is issued and
construction commences.

Covered walk- prelim plans

As we've discussed, we'd like to build a shed roof over a portion of our entry stairs. I've
enclosed preliminary plans indicating the location and concept.
Please meet with the Town of Vail staff to review the concept. Note the following:
1. Based on the survey, the structure is 15.8' from the side property line. The TOV staff
previously told me that the shed room could extend 4' into the side setback. I
believe it is a 15' setback, indicating that the shed roof could extend up to 4' -9" from
the building.
2. The roof w ill be metal, color to match the metal roof on the other half of the duplex.
3. We will work with Tyler Aldrich at Structural Design Solutions Inc. to design the
structure. Tyler has been to the site and agreed that 2 column, probably using
helical piers, is the most acceptable approach. He recommended a glue -lam for the
long sloping beam.
4. As we've discussed, the primary purpose of the shed roof is to solve a winter ice
problem that we have from the top room.
5. Given the location of the home at the end of the cul -de -sac and the tree coverage,
the shed roof will have minimal visual impact.
If possible, receiving a staff approval to proceed would be great.
