Sign Application for Design Review
General Information:
This application is required for any sign that is located within the Town of Vail. All signs require design review approval.
Applicable Vail Town Code sections can be reviewed on-line at www.vaigov.com under Vail Information -Town Code On-
line (Title 11 Signs). An application for Design Review cannot be accepted until all required information is received by the
Community Development Department. Design review approval lapses unless sign is installed within one year of the approval.

Sid- I am writing in response to your application for a new sign at 304 Bridge Street for Whiskey Jack's, to
replace the SkiBar sign/awning already in place. The Vail Town Code allows for businesses to have up to
six (6) square feet for business ID signs. On awnings, the square footage can be measured with up to
two (2) polygons surrounding the text and associated graphics. This means that you can count the exact
square footage of "Whiskey" and then add that to the exact square footage of "Jack's" which spares you
from counting the void space in between. However, your application shows that the proposed sign is
almost twelve (12) square feet. Please submit an 8.5"x11" sheet showing just the text, to scale, with
dimensions called out, that meets the maximum six square feet requirement. Also, please submit
payment of $50 plus $1 per square foot of signage, payable in cash, check, or credit card. For credit card
payment, I can take payment over the phone or you can come in to process the request. If you would
like to discuss this further, feel free to contact me. You are welcome to email me the additional
information, or you can fax, or submit in person.
