QUALITY CONTROL The moisture/density curve shall be developed for the different soil types encountered in accordance with AASHTO TISO. The field compaction tests will be performed using a nuclear density method in accordance with ASTM D2922. A. Utility trench backfill under roadway prisms-the frequency of testing shall be a minimum of one density test every 50 lineal feet of trench per lift and as directed by the Engineer. This testing shall be accomplished whether the trench is for water, sewer, gas, electric,telephone, or cable TV. B. Finished sub-grade-the frequency of testing shall be a minimum of one density test for every 50 lineal feet per lane and as directed by the Engineer. Proof rolling with a loaded rubber tired dump truck will be required prior to the sub-grade being acceptable. Proof rolling shall be done after specified compaction has been obtained. Areas found to be weak and those areas which failed shall be ripped, scarified,wetted if necessary and recompacted to the requirements for density and moisture. C. Aggregate base course-one in-place density,gradation and Atterberg Limits test every 150 lineal feet per lane of aggregate base course of each compacted lift surface area and as directed by the Engineer. D. Hot Bituminous Pavement-two asphalt content and gradation tests per day's production.
