The right -of -way on all Town of Vail streets and roads is approximately 5 ft. off pavement. This ordinance will be strictly enforced by the Town of Vail Public Works Department. Persons found violating this ordinance will be given a 24 hour written notice to remove said material. In the event the person so notified does not comply with the notice within the 24 hour time specified, the Public Works Department will remove said material at the expense of person notified. The provisions of this ordinance shall not be applicable to construction, maintenance or repair projects of any street or alley or any utilities in the right -a -way. All commercial (:large or small) and all multi- family permits will have to follow the above mentioned maximum requirements. Residential and small projects should take a lesser amount of time. You can pick up an application at either Community Development, located at 75 S. Frontage Road or Public Works, located at 1309 Vail Valley Drive. 2) Notice sign offs for utility companies. All utilities must field verify (locate) respective utilities prior to signing application. Some utility companies require up to a 48 hour notice to schedule a locate). 3) A construction traffic control plan must be prepared on a separate sheet of paper. This plan will show locations of all traffic control devices (signs, cones, etc.) and the work zone, (area of construction, staging, etc.) 4) Sketch of work being performed must be submitted indicating dimensions (length, width & depth of work). This may be drawn on the traffic control plan or a site plan for the job. 5) Submit completed application to the Public Work's office for review. If required, locates will be scheduled for the Town of Vail Electricians and Irrigation crew. The locates are take place in the morning, but may require up to 48 hours to perform. 6) The Public Work's Construction Inspector will review the application and approve or disapprove the permit. You will be contacted as to the status and any changes that may be needed. Most permits are released within 48 hours of being received, but please allow up to one week to process. 7) As soon as permit is processed, a copy will be faxed to Community Development allowing the "Building Permit" to be released.
