The purpose of our inspection was to verifo that the exposed materials would safely support a spread footing foundation system for the proposed addition. The depth of the excavation varied from approximately 3.5 to 5.5 feet. The materials exposcd in the bottom of the excavation consisted of fill. The fill was characterized by a dry, dense to very dense, silty, sand and gravel with cobbles. The soils within the excavation were compacted in accordance with our recommendations. In our opinion, the exposed soils will safely support a spread footing foundation system designed for a maximum allowable soil bearing pressure of 2,000 psf. Our opinion is based on the foundation soils remaining unsaturated. We appreciate the opportunity to provide this service. If we can be of further service, please contact us.
