PUBLIC WORKSAND THE PUBLIC WAYPERiIIT PROCESS

Fillout the atteched check list with the Building Pqmit Aoplication.
lf yes was ansnercd to any of the questiors then a ?ublic Wayr permit b required. You
can pick up an application at either Community Development, located at 75 South Frontage
Road or Public Works, located at 1309 Elkhom Drine.
Notice signoffs for utility companies. ALL utilitiEs must field wdfy (locate) rcpedive
utilities prior to signing appli:ation. Some utility ompanies mquire up to 48 hourc notice to
schedule a locate.
A construction traffic contml/staging plan mud be prepared on a separate sheet of paper.
An appro/ed site plan may abo be used. This plan will stpw locations of all traffic control
devi:es (signs, cones, etc.) and lhe work zone, (araa of conEtruclion, staging, etc.). Thb
phn will expire on November lst and will need to be rcsubmitted for onsileration for
approval through the winter. Be aware that your resubmission for winter may be denied
depending on the location of corstruction.
Sketch of work being performed must be submilted indbating dimensions (length, width
and depth of work). This may be drawn on the traffic control plan or a sils plan for the job.
Submit completed application to the fublic Work's office for revlew. lf requlrcd, locabs will
be sdteduled for the Town of Vail elecidcbrc and irrigntion ctaw. The locates take phe in
the moming, but may require up to 48 hours to perform.
The Public Work's Construction Inspecfor will review the application and approve or deny
the permit. You will be contac.ted as to the status and any requirements that may be
needed. Most permits are released within 48 hours of being received, but please allow up
to one (1) week to prcoess.
As soon as the permit is approved, the BuiUing Department will be notified, allowing the
'Building Permit' to be mlemed. Phase do not confuse the ?ublic Way Permit' with a
'Building Permit'.
NOTE: The above process is for work In a public way ONLY. Public Way
Permits are valid only untll November lsth. A naw Public Way Permlt ls requlred
each year if work ls not complete. Re-appllcatlon each November 15th does not
mean an automatlc renewal.
