You can pick up an application at either Community Development, located at 75 South Frontage Road or Public Works, located at 1309 Elkhorn Drive. l,lotice sign-offs for utility companies. ALL utilities must field veriff (locate) respective utilities prior to signing application. Some utility companies require up to 48 hours notice to scfiedule a locate. A construction traffic control/staging plan must be prepared on a separate sheet of paper. An approved site plan may also be used. This plan will show locations of all traffic oontrol devices (signs, cones, etc.) and the work zone, (area of construction, staging, etc.). Thb plan will expire on November 1st and will need to be resubmitted for consideration for approval through the winter. Be aware that your resubmission for winter may be denied depending on the location of construction. Sketch of work being performed must be submitted indicating dimensions (length, width and depth of work). This may be drawn on the traffic control plan or a site plan for the job. Submit completed application to the Rrblic Work's office for review. lf required, locates will be scheduled for the Town of Vail electriciars and irrigation crew. The locates take place in the morning, but may require up to 48 hours to perform. The Public Work's Construction Inspector will review the application and approve or deny the permit. You will be oontacted s to the status and any requirements that may be needed. Most permits are released within 48 hours of being received, but please allow up to one (1) week to process. As soon as the permit is approved, the Building Department will be notified, allowing the 'Building Permit" to be released. Please do not confuse the 'Public Way Permit" with a 'Building Permit". -- NOTE: The above proce$s ls for work in a public way ONLY. Public Way Permits are valid only until November 1sth. Thousands of people come to Vail each year to sightsee, recreate, shop and to enjoy eve$hing the Vail Valley has to offer. The community and merchants rely upon our guest to generate r€venue. To insure that all of the proposed construction has as little negative impast on the mmmunity and on our guest as possibte, ihe Torvn of Vail finds it imperative to create and implement the Vail Village and Lionshead Village Construction Hours Handout. It would be inesponsible forthe Town of Vail, the Construction Contractors and the Merchants, to not actively participateb minimize the impact of construction in the Vail and Lionshead Village areas. Givens The follodng givens are intended to provide the basic foundation by which construction will be completed in the Villages: e The public's health, safiety and welfare shall be honored at all times. o Adequate pedestrian, loading/delivery, vehide, and emergency vehicle access and circulation shall be maintained. o Roadways and pedestsian wallavays shall be kept clean and ftee of dift and debris. o All construction deliveries, equipment, tools and materials entering the Vail Village and Pedestrian areas must go through Check Point Charlie. All Lionshead construclion activity must go to the Vail Police Department for a parking permit. Do not use delivery zones for construction parking, refer to approved staging plan or make other anangements for parking. o The hours of Outside Construction Activity shall be as bllorvs: - April 15 - June 18 & September 7 - November 19,7 a.m. until 7 p.m., seven days a week. June 18 thru September 10, work must end by 4:fi1 p.m. on Fridays. Striking a balance between safe public access and giving construction projects room to build is becoming increasingly challenging, for us to meet all the needs of those who will be impacted by construction projects. The fact is, there is less room to build in the Town of Vail. Developing a creative Staging Plan is a must. Staging in the Town of Vail Public Right of Way is a Privilege, not a given right. We take into account when we review and approve staging / parking plans, impacts on neighborhoods, tourism, business and the traveling public along with your right to build.
