After seeing and reviewing the final plans, I am excited about getting started. -l greatly appreciate your offer and willingness to seek Design Review Board approval to retain the present garage area living space in units 4 & 6. I believe that you are proposing that this potential design problem be solved by replacing a standard garage door in its normal position and adding a long window to the uppermost garage door frame. This, seemingly, would satisfy our need to preserve this very fuunclional living area, and solve a very big problem. -l have no knowledge about specific window type availability so can't comment on this aspect. I am naturally concerned about light and ventilation needs. Currently, in Unit 4, this is not a problem. My present windows are functional, and.not unattractive, in my opinion. Has our architect studied and given his opinion on all options to help the potential design problem? Mr. Gibson's advice to me to see our architect, would be moot, if he has already studied this problem. --On another issue, most Phase I owners are highly in lavor of fireplace natural gas availability, lF the pipes can be installed WITHIN the walls. As you know, Units 5 & 6 have it outside the walls. On the one occasion where I met our general contractor, he mentioned that it would be no problem for his plumber to provide an estimate. Phase I owners, who utilize this option, don't expect Phase ll owners to pay lor this additional amenity. Would you prefer that I renew this contact or can you do this? Please provide me with our contractors number if you want me to do this. Thanks. -Most Phase I owners are really anxious to get this project underuay and very appreciative of your outstanding efforts -Thanks again lor all your help. Morris 4485 Governor's Point Colorado Springs, C0 80906 719-667 -0339 July 8, 2OO5 Mr. ,Jeff Mowry unlt 14 Dear Jeff Thank you for my copy of your letter and proposed plans on the Eiger Chal-et remodel-ing project. First and foremost, I want to t,hank you so very much for your efforts. This seems Llke a very difficult project to qet organized. We seem to have problems and needs that eonceivabl-y exceed probably any other condo or townhouse project in vail. What happened in Vail building projects in 1977 probably couldn't happen in vail 2005. f very much like the overall desi.gn presented and reviewed at your home last vinter (fa11?), and would l-ike to proceedrrith whatever the final plans entail. There are however, some "cost" eonstraints by some ovners, I am certain. I wi11 agree to "anything" that is agreeable to the rnajority, so that we can upgrade our units as soon as possible. Having said the above, T feel compelled to advise that there are some differences in the truo buildings and their design, vhich, I thinl<, vould require an architect to resolve. For example:1) Size of unit d i fferences-- and ultimate cost differences 2) Stone work present in Building 1 (6 units) above the foundation lral-ls which is nob present in Building 2 (B units). Building 1 may lrant to retain the present stonewor]< and not convert to the new stone suggested for Building 2. A1so, the current Building 1 stone matches vell with the stone va11 by unit 1, and the new lightpost by upper wa11. 3) Different vindow configurations in the tvo buildings. fn addition to the above -Bul1dinq 1: 4) Units 2, 5,6 need consider new stone covers for theparty va11 base. (note: Unit t has a special finish r'rhich goes pretty ve1l vith the stone & stucco interface, l think) 5) Units 2,4,5,6 have "closed" the entry coves. Do units 1, 3 ffant to enclose to get more foyer space, or, leave as is? 6) Units 4, 6 do not have garages or garage doors, and have windows in the lJaragie door space. 7) Unit 6 has a windov next to the external door space- Units 4, 5 do notr €verr though they have enclosed foyers and added doors. Page Z---Jeff MorcrY 8) Units 2, 5,6 have wood walls around the oufside door' Unit, 4 traa stucco. Do we have suggestlons for any unit to- conform or leave as is? (note: stucco perhaps doesn't cost much when done at same time as remainlng stucco job' ) 9) Units 1, 2,3, 4,5, have "long" window'-Unit 6 has two "short'r windows. Unit 4 r.rants to go to two short vindows as he has ultimate plans to enLarge the master bedroom' 10) Units 1, 5 have similar styled front doors. Units 2' 3, 4, 6 have i@ all different styled front doors' Are changes necessary? 11 ) ProbablY other differences????? 12)Buildinglalsohasthepotentialtogotonaturalgas.Tf we do thii, T think that the pipe should be enclosed rather ttran exposed as at present' While the above presents some unique design problems' T believe that an archltect can oveicome ttrese and combine the positiveandnewdesignfeaturesfrombuilding2intothenew building 1 scheme. f believe that we can greatly irnprove our building ipp."iu".e, minimize our need for painting' and r look forward to wort<ing vith alL neighbors to a successful conclus i on. ileff, Thant<s again for all of your efforts' Please call if I can he1p. l"lost sincerelY, ( t4yl-on-.t \_-----/Copy: Units I,2,3,5,6, Helmut, Bruce crlf,*Jn|TY tEtiELtFtEt{t fuC*'-|t' Design Review Board ' +'+ ACTIOI{ FORM Department of Cornmunity treverlopment 75 sor.$th Frontage Raad, Vail, Eolorado 81"657 tel: 970.479.2139 fax: 970.479.?452 web: urwrrr, vai lgov"corn Projectt{ame: ltA*rf fus. gepS Proiect Description: Pafticipants: OWNER MOWRY, AUBERT J. & BARBAM ]LOI3LIaOO5 8OO E WESTGLOW LN GREENWOOD VILI.AGE co 80121 APPUCANT MOWRY, AUBERT J. & BARBARA J 1O/31i2005 8OO E WESTGLOW LN GREENWOOD VILLAGE co 80121 ProjectAddress: 1350 SANDSTONE DR VAIL EIGER CHALETS #14 Legal Description: Lot: G-3 Block Subdivision: EIGER CHALETS Parcel l{umber: 2103-121-0301-4 Comments: SeeConditions DRB Number: DRB0505B9 FINAL APPROVAL FOR ADDING TWO STEPS AND A PLANTER BOX.
